Trying to get on the same page as DW with major home renovations...

Drac0's picture

...is not easy.

We're doing a big shift in our house. SS is moving into the guest room. BS is moving into SS's room. BD and BS are currently sharing a room so BD will have a room to herself as well.

Everyone likes the idea...

Unfortunately, time and budget are becoming an issue. I've done numerous painting and renovation jobs in the past, so when I say "This room is going to take 2 hours minimum just to prime." DW doesn't believe me. Argument #1 ensues.

SS vs The Fajita Bread Package

Drac0's picture

I made Fajitas last night. It’s really simple for me to do and is one of five meals where all the children (BS5, BD3 and SS15) don’t complain and eat everything on their plate. BD says it’s her favorite meal.

DW was away in her cross-fit so it was just me and the kids eating. SS was really hungry; hungrier than I have seen him in a long while. He polished off 3 fajita wraps and asked if there was more fajita bread. I just so happened to have bought an extra package but it was sitting on the kitchen counter. I didn’t want to open it in case we didn’t need it.

I think I know why I never dated in High School

Drac0's picture

Actually I only dated a girl in my last year of high school and she was from another school.

Remember Vicky? SS's ex-girlfriend was cute, funny, sweet, and had a good head on her shoulders. I could not, for the life of my understand what she saw in SS.

Vicky called it quits back in January. At least that is when we think they broke up. DW checked her FB status one day and she was listed as "not in a relationship" anymore.

New solution to cereal dilemma

Drac0's picture

A couple of posts back I posted about how SS was eating three bowls of cereal a day and how I would frequently run out of cereal to feed BS and BD.

Several of you posted some solutions, including buying cereal that I know SS won't like.

I found another solution....

Place boxes of cereal in the bottom pantry shelf at the back. Since tall boy only looks for things at his eye level and upwards, it didn't take long for the cereal supply to return to normal.

Business trip makes me appreciate SS a little....

Drac0's picture

I used to hate business trips, even short ones as it would take me away from DW and family, leaving DW to shoulder most of the day-to-day burdens by herself. I would tell DW that on these days she should recruit SS to help her out, but SSis about as helpful as a milk bucket under a bull.

SS awarded. DW not impressed.

So DW threw me for a loop yesterday.

Yesterday morning, SS showed DW a certificate of merit he received the other day.

The certificate is for "Most improved student in Social Studies".

I guess this is to reflect the fact that SS went from a 38% to a 70%.

Considering how strained DW and I have been lately, I decided to be the optimist.

"This is great!" I said. "I am very happy to see this."

SS is a Cereal Killer

Drac0's picture

I knew this situation was going to get worse before it gets better. I didn’t think it would get this bad though.

DW and I got into another fight last night. That’s two fights in one week. A record for us. However this time the fight started over something rather innocuous.

Cereal.

Can you punish skids for stupidity, or should you just let nature take its course?

Drac0's picture

The stupidity of this kid just never ceases to amaze me.

SS is already grounded. No electronics until his grades improve. His cell phone is "partially" confiscated. Meaning that he can't have it when he is at home, but when he leaves the house, he can have it in case of emergencies.

How you like me now?

So there is another project on the horizon. This time for Science.

Yeah science. One of the courses that SS failed.

It is due after Spring Break.

I come home and ask DW if SS is working on it. DW says she believes he is and goes to check.

She comes back and says “He says he is going to work on it at his Dad’s place.”

I called bullshit. DW, looking somewhat defeated said “Don’t you think I don’t know that? I just don’t know what to do anymore.”

I march into SS’s room. He’s playing on his old DS. Hmmm, I forgot about that.

DS confiscated.
