OT - I Despise American Airlines

So...totally OT but I've just had the worst day.

I never fly American, but were one of the only airlines that had a flight to my destination today.

So, I had a 5:45 am flight and I got to the airport at 4:00 am...flying out of a small regional airport with two terminals. First thing when I get there...no curbside check-in for American, no kiosks to get my boarding pass...no way that I could figure out to check-in online. The American check-in line is out the door at 4:00 am. United and Delta each had about 5-10 people in line and kept it moving.

So it took about 30 minutes for me to get checked in. Then I get up to the security checkpoint and the line is wrapped multiple times around the entire lobby and then back past the escalators and curling around again...I've never seen it like this in my life. Still feel like I have plenty of time...over an hour to get to my terminal.

Nope. The TSA has a computer out and do absolutely nothing to speed up the security process. They had dozens of customers complaining...asking them if they can hold the planes...they very rudely said that we need to get to the airport "at least 3 hours before the flight" until September because they don't see the airport fixing the problem before then. They didn't call up to hold the plane, and about 20 or so people missed their 5:45/5:50 flight (2 different flights). I got to the gate at 5:47...and the gate agent told me that they would have held the plane if TSA had let them know there was an issue.

Anyway...long story short I didn't get to fly out until 10:20 and, of course, missed my 8:25 connection. Got in at 12:20...went straight to customer service to get on the earliest available flight. Have been getting bumped all day and finally pitched a fit and was confirmed for the 8:20 flight. Turns out...the gatge agenet who helped get me confirmed said that they'd coded me in some way to make me absolute last on the list of their (already oversold) flights because "I was late to my first flight."

I nearly lost it and started cussing. I mean...are they morons? They knew what was going on because I had the same problem that 2 dozen other people had...we were all late? We all had the same story about a busted computer at security?

It's like they're not even human. And, now...I'll get to my final destination around 11 pm for an 8 am talk to 1500+ people. Yay me.

Never flying American again...or out of my hometown airport. 3+ hours for a domestic flight out of a regional airport with two terminals is just absurd.
