OT - Tone-up Tuesday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Happy Tuesday, STalkers!

I don't know what I'm doing right - becauseI feel like a fat walrus AND I'm sitting here eating a Big Mac - but I had to pull my belt in all the way to the last hole. If this keeps up, I'll have to make a new hole in my belt. Crazy!

How goes it with everyone? Any tips, secrets, new dieting recipes you'd like to share? Yahoo

I started back at the gym!!!

I just compete with everyone there... I have this nasty competitive streak... So someone was running at 8 MPH... Naturally I ran at 8.5... LMAO Someone was doing bicep curls with 20 lbs... I did 35 lbs...

I honestly think being competitive helps drive me though and improve further... It's a lot easier to keep going if I feel like I'm competing and have a bench mark to beat. That's part of why I loved having a gym buddy. We were both competitive, so we would motivate and push each other to be better. We made leaps and bounds... I miss her.

Yay for you, PA!!! Is that punching bag back yet? LOL

That's where you and I differ - I LOATHE having a gym buddy. I've always been about giving 110% of my concentration to my workout and have nothing to give to a buddy.

No it's not.... But DH said he'll buy me one after he's employed (just waiting on his state certification to come in the mail, he already has a job offer!)

I have to have a specific gym buddy. One that 1) doesn't mind my b*** face. 2) isn't expecting conversation. 3) is literally just someone there for me to compete with. LMAO. And they have to feel the same or they try and chat. I'm 110% when there. Having someone else just gives me someone to compete against. So my friend, awesome gym buddy, didn't try and talk, pushed to be better than me, which gave me something to compete against. Whereas my sister... Only really wanted to chit chat... So that was a no go really quick...

Yippee, PA's DH!

My problem is that I was doing the same workout as my male jock friends and never met a single woman who could manage that level with me. Soooooo, they would chatter. Aaaaaaaaauuuuuuugggggghhhhhh!!!! SHUT IT! lol

This is why I used to go to the gym with a few male friends... They seem to get th eimportance of lifting heavy and being focused a lot better... I've only found ONE female that I liked as a gym buddy. DH is a good gym buddy when/if he wants to go.

I'm grateful for DH! Guess he see how much it helped my anger! LMAO

Hi Aniki,

Have you ever tried intermittent fasting? You have the following:

The 16/8 method: Also called the Leangains protocol, it involves skipping breakfast and restricting your daily eating period to 8 hours, such as 1–9 p.m. Then you fast for 16 hours in between.

Eat-Stop-Eat: This involves fasting for 24 hours, once or twice a week, for example by not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day.

The 5:2 diet: With this methods, you consume only 500–600 calories on two non-consecutive days of the week, but eat normally the other 5 days.

By reducing your calorie intake, all of these methods should cause weight loss as long as you don't compensate by eating much more during the eating periods.

I find the 16/8 method to be the simplest and this is the one that I do sometimes. It's more sustainable and easiest to stick with.

Siempre, I have never tried that. One problem is that I cannot skip a meal. Fasting of any kind leads to me passing out! I do occasionally consume protein shakes as breakfast.

I do know WHAT to eat and how much. My problem is serious lack of willpower. Dash 1

Well, I have seriously strained my back, after missing a week at the gym thanks to a sinus infection/cold. So yay me. >.<

Cutting carbs has been the only thing that has worked for me. I don't cut them out entirely, but down to about 100 g a day. It allows me to still eat fruit, dairy, and beans, and makes me really think hard about any pasta/bread I might to consume. The most tedius part is the tracking, and if I keep up with not being able to exercise, I may have to give go bread again.

Ouch, Lt Dad!! Hope you recovery from everything quickly.

I often substitute pasta with zoodles (spiralized zucchini noodles). It's not the same, but actually satisfies my craving for pasta.

If I have the carb allowance, I use chickpea pasta so I get the fiber and protein. If I don't, Miracle Noodles.

I have been pretty plateau for the last monthish.  I know the problem was that I went on a 4 day business trip and ate all sorts of horrible for me foods.  (delicious though).. So I only lost a couple pounds in 30 days vs the 6-8 that I should have.. I already do have cheat days on the weekend... so throwing in an extra bunch of high calorie low exercise days sucked.

I did get the scale to move the past week pretty well though.. trying to keep up with my meal planning and not getting out of wack to badly when I do eat what I want.

I still get up at 3:45 a.m. to workout to my Beachbody DVDs in the comfort of my own living room. I am back to the 21 Day Fix after herniating a disc in my lower back 7 months ago. Keep up the good work ladies!

I am on BB on demand.  I do a T25 in the AM and then if I have energy and time... I will do a CIZE after work.  I am not getting up as early as I need to.. more like 6 am.. and if I could just make myself get up at 5, I could leave at 4:30 from work instead of 6pm like I am now...lol.

I'm trying out 310 Nutrition. So far so good. Lost almost 5 lbs pretty quickly, but my weekends go to hell. Its much easier to manage during the work week for me.

I find that to be the case, too. I usually make my work lunches (and DH's) on Sunday. I had to come in late today and was craving that Big Mac and a McD's coke. For dinner tonight, I'll be eating an avocado and tomato salad. Nom nom nom...
