Using STalk to it's advantages

Peaches's picture

Besides being a great place to vent and get advice and compare our crazy step life, I've also found another use for STalk. I'm a lurker, so when I read up on posts that detail bad behavior and mannerisms from skids, caused by crap parenting on behalf of BMs and BFs, I casually bring them up to my DH and say things like, "Oh, I'm so glad you would never let the kids slip on bedtimes/manners etc". DH was a self-admitted Disney dad and had no problem with it until I came along. Slowly but surely I've turned him around, especially since BS was born, and step talk was a huge part of that. I make sure to tell him about some of the shitty stuff some skids/BM's do as a result of the dads having no spine and letting their babies walk all over them. He has sworn up and down that he's done with the Disney dad stuff, so fingers crossed that my skids won't turn out to be rude teens/adults Wink

I do the same thing. It's so much better than criticizing. Telling him how glad I am that he's not like xyz (even when he is either actively doing xyz or on the path towards it) seems to be working.
