The Wheels of Downward Mod Move S-L-O-W-L-Y
Hello everyone from Golden Uterus Land otherwise known as New York State. So the paperwork for the downward mod went in on 10/22. No receipt given in Podunk NY; not like the county I live in next to it or any other county that I've ever lived in.
I called them today since I haven't heard a thing since--I pretended to be a BM asking for an upward mod so that I could get the kid glove treatment.
Me: "How long does it take to get notification in the mail of a court date?"
Court worker (sweetly): "Oh, it takes about 3 to 4 weeks--we are generally backed up."
Me: "Ok, thanks."
This is for a county with a population of 35,000. Which has remained relatively flat since 1970.
I promised to do as much leg work as possible to keep the attorney fees down.

I'll let you know how GU this
I'll let you know how GU this state is.... DH turned in his paperwork to end CS on Friday (we had to wait to get BM to sign it...). Apparently she's NOT contesting it, so let's see just how long it takes for the judge to sign it and the state to inform his employer to STOP taking it out of his checks.
I'm thinking 1/1/15 at the earliest. Why not be benevolent and give her $3000 more than "she" deserves just for good measure??
Place your bets everyone.
Place your bets everyone. ..
I've come up with a formula
(U)x 20 = (D) x 2 = (E)
U being the time it takes for an upward mod
D being the time it takes for a downward mod
E being the time it takes for stoppage due to emancipation event.
Yeah it's quickly becoming a
Yeah it's quickly becoming a nation.
Funny... I thought that was
Funny... I thought that was Missouri. Where the state mandates that the NCP has to pay half of the kids college expenses as well as CS at the same time!
My parent's never paid a dime for my college... they couldn't afford it.
Oh you should SEE Chef's CO!
Oh you should SEE Chef's CO! It has stuff above and beyond NYS which, when interpreted by a cut throat lawyer, would have Chef paying college expenses year after year, fail after fail well past age 24.
Ours too. CS, college, other
Ours too. CS, college, other expenses. DH has to pay it all. BM gets to claim it all.
I think that is the way
I think that is the way pretty much everywhere. Double standard for NCP biodad as opposed to NCP deadbeat BM.
