OT Need makeup suggestions
I have been searching for the perfect makeup foundation/tinted moisturizer/BB or CC cream that will NOT emphasize wrinkles/pores and cover hyper pigmentation. I do tend to have dry skin also bit don't want something heavy. I've made lots of trips to the stores buying and returning fails not to mention hours of research. I don't want to spend a fortune either.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried using a primer
Have you tried using a primer underneath? I watch youtube videos of product suggestions before I commit to anything but a lot of the "Beauty Gurus" on there suggest using the smash box primers or Dr. Brandts primer. I don't have a suggestion on foundations as the one I'm using now is the Make Up Forever: HD whatever and it's really doing terrible with this cold weather and my dry skin. I don't splurge on foundation often because I don't wear it everyday but I want to try the Two Faced: Born This Way next.
Haven't had much luck with
Haven't had much luck with primers either. I have done most of my research on YouTube and have seen the smashbox primer reviews too. Thinking about trying it but will have to order it.
Have neither of those
Have neither of those unfortunately. Hate to order because of the whole return thing.
I really like this
I really like this one:
LANEIGE BB Cushion
It's a little pricey but it works really well.
I also suggest primers and would suggest Smashbox or Bare Minerals. Both I really like and work well.
I think I've seen reviews on
I think I've seen reviews on this. They were good.
I've tried the ponds cream
I've tried the ponds cream and made my face feel like it was on fire so taking that back. Using olay hydrating cream for mature skin (ugh...hate that word!). My skin is feeling better.
I was thinking my next try would be the maybelline mousse. Heard that was really good.
Wow. That was makeup?? I
Wow. That was makeup?? I thought you only used eye makeup and lipstick. That's it.
Okay...points for Bare Minerals because it doesn't even look like Echo wears makeup.
I was thinking about going
I was thinking about going with just a powder too as I use a self tanner so I don't have to use a liquid every day and still have some color. Basically need something to even out and not emphasize my wrinkles.
my skin is oily but i can get
my skin is oily but i can get dry, flaky patches in the winter in certain spots. i carry my moisturizer in my purse (aveeno). i slather a nice coating of that on and use covergirl simply powder foundation when my skin has noooot quite absorbed all the aveeno. it's the best coverage i could find without the heavy feel of liquid or mineral. and u can reapply if/when needed just as you would a regular pressed powder. i very rarely do, but on extraordinarily dry days i redo the moisturizer and powder foundation. literally takes two seconds
I love Laura Mercier tinted
I love Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. Usually I wear it alone but sometimes will follow with powder foundation to help with darker areas.
I have dry skin as well, and
I have dry skin as well, and have found the revlon photoready BB cream to be my best bet for foundation. It has a more luminous look to it, rather than a flat matte look, just FYI.
As for moisturizer, right now I am using the Pond's Dry Skin Cream, but only because I am pregnant and can't use the PCA Collagen Hydrator I usually use (which has retinol in it).
I swear by this stuff, otherwise... it's AMAZING:

I love the Tarte products.
I love the Tarte products. Those stick blushes are great, and the eyeshadows are so nicely pigmented. Even the dark ones go on very sheer.
As someone nearing 70 I have to deal with old skin which means wrinkles (but I don't have many) and uneven pigment. That Tarte BB stuff is great.
I love Smashbox Photo Ready
I love Smashbox Photo Ready Primer, I also got a sample of Pur lisse tinted primer in my Ipsy glam bag a couple of months ago and really liked that as well. I could use that alone with no foundation. If I'm feeling cheap, I like Garnier BB cream, I hate foundation, and really like the tinted BB and primers.. I just wear them alone.
I switch back and forth between Olay 7 Effects and Olay Regenerist for day time moisturizer and I use RoC Retinol Correction cream at night.
I wish I could help but I
I wish I could help but I have oily skin, with uneven tone.
I use LushUSA cleanser (I use Aqua Marina) and lotion (Imperialis). Their 9 to 5 cleanser works for initial make up removal, but I use Aqua Marina afterwards.
I use Arbonne primer and tinted moisturizer. Both do a great job making my skin look more even. I use the FC powder before both to help with the oil.
I don't use any other powder on my skin and I get a nice natural glow.
The best stuff I ever found
The best stuff I ever found for foundation is this stuff http://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Skin-Transformer-SPF-Medium/dp/B004C6Q962
They used to carry it at Costco which is how I found out about it. You don't need to use much so it will last a long time.
I like it because it has sunscreen, moisturizer, and primer built it. I just put it on after washing my face. Goes on silky and smooth and feels really light on my skin. Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I have the exact same
I have the exact same problem. I have hyperpigmentation from a rare auto immune disease. My hyperpigmentation was worsened from having to take prednisone for 4 years. Terrible! Destroyed my self esteem and permanently destroyed my complexion. Prednisone also made me gain 60lbs within a few months. I HATE prednisone! Anyways.........
You need to start by prepping the skin. You must moisturize. Use a moisturizer with sunscreen. I'm using Dream Screen spf 45 by Benefit. It's light, not greasy and layers nicely with all of the products that I use. Don't forget to moisturize and use sunscreen on your neck! When applying these various layers of products, make sure you let each layer dry before applying the next layer.
Artists use primer on their canvas before they begin to paint. Your face is the same way. I use Smashbox photo finish primer. I love this stuff. They have several different primers for different issues, this one is the clear one. It cost $36 but they sell a smaller size at Sephora for $12 I believe. I haven't tried the other Smashbox primers but I've heard that the pore filling primer is good too. If you have large pores, the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer will work fine. I've used other primers but I find that this one truly blurs my fine lines. I also use Smashbox under eye primer as it has a nice brightening effect and really moisturizes the area. This isn't a necessity as the Photofinish primer will prime under your eyes just fine.
As for beauty balms, I like Urban Decay's beauty balm spf 20. I also use Tarte's Amazonian clay beauty balm spf 20. I have also used Smashbox Camera Ready BB water spf 30 and it also works nicely. It's not really that "watery" but it is thinner than the Tarte or Urban Decay Beauty Balm. Tarte is the thicker product, Urban Decay is medium and the Smasbox BB water is the thinnest however once applied, they all have the same effect and provide light to medium buildable coverage.
I apply these products with a Beauty Blender which is KEY to a flawless application. You get it soaking wet, squeeze out the water, wrap it in a towel and squeeze it again to get out as much water as possible. Then you can put your beauty balm or foundation on the back of your hand or a palette if you have one (any hard non porous surface will do) and you dip the Beauty Blender in the product and tap/bounce it into the skin, all over your face. I know, it's around $20 but it works better than any brush I've ever bought and I have hundreds of dollars worth of brushes. If you prefer to use a brush then I highly recommend (the best brush that I have for applying foundation or beauty balms) is Urban Decay's Optical Blurring brush. I think it was under $35. I cannot emphasize enough that your makeup application is just as important as using a good quality product. If you use cheap brushes then you will not get a proper application. You could use the best product in the world and it will look terrible if it's not applied properly. Make the investment! I've heard that Sigma brushes are fantastic. I haven't ordered any yet but many beauty bloggers swear by them.
Ok, so after all this, I then use Dermablend pressed powder. This really covers the hyperpigmentation without having to apply layer upon layer of product. I have also used It Cosmetics color correcting powder spf 50. This powder is a physical sunblock which means it literally creates a barrier between you and harmful rays. I then use Kat Von D's shade and light contour palette and apply the highlighter above my cheekbone right under my eye for highlighting and then apply Urban Decay's naked blush. You need to add color so you don't look like you are wearing a mask. I finish with Urban Decay's setting spray.
I cannot emphasize enough: moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. And sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen. I use a moisturizer with sunscreen before I apply my primer. The smashbox primer that I mentioned has a blurring effect which fills the fine lines. I am in my early 40's and I have always hated the sun so I don't have sun damage, just this terrible hyperpigmentation. I consulted with a dermatologist and she prescribed hydroquinone to help me get the hyperpigmentation under control. It was so bad it looked like someone had smeared super dark foundation all over my face. It's been a horrible experience but this regimen has helped me tremendously. Due to my disease, the Dermatologist informed me that even indoor lighting will cause my face to darken. I wear sunscreen CONSTANTLY. This is a must.
I have found that with hyperpigmentation, the more you try to cover it, the darker it will look. You need to apply a proper amount of makeup; just enough to "mellow" the complexion/pigmentation out. Full coverage makeup isn't really practical for me on a daily basis and I swear, it draws more attention to my messed up complexion. Going for a light to medium buildable coverage has worked best for me. I know most women don't have to deal with the level of hyperpigmentation that I have; they may have a spot here or there but nothing as extreme as what I am describing. Even so, I think this regimen would work well on mild cases and will prevent premature aging from sun exposure.
I have really nice skin in general. It is healthy and moisturized. I have estheticians, makeup consultants and even my dermatologist comment on how beautiful it is and they are surprised I am in my 40's. I'm just talking the quality and integrity of the skin, not the nasty hyperpigmentation that has plagued my face. I started a skin care regimen and using daily sunscreen when I was in my 20's. If you are in your 20's and you are reading this, please please please start now, moisturize everyday and night and use sunscreen.
My husband hates the full coverage look. He likes the way I do my face. If I put on too much or if I am going for full coverage, he will say something. When I do my daily routine which is described above, he tells me I don't even look like I have makeup on; this should be the look you're going for. He can't see any lines or the product itself as this application will not look cakey when applied correctly. This is what you want; to even out your skin tone without looking obvious (if you know what I mean). When you have fine lines, wrinkles, dry patches and such, you have to be careful as the product will settle in those areas and make you look older if you've applied too much.
I always have a makeup artist assist me with selecting the proper products and they are knowledgeable regarding color matching. It's always good to ask for help. Don't be afraid to ask for help, that's what the makeup artists are there for. I have never encountered an employee or makeup artist that wasn't happy to help me. They love to talk about makeup and help women (and yes, some men) feel beautiful.
Well, I hope this helps. I know it sounds like a lot but once you get it down, it's easy to do and using a Beauty Blender makes the application quick and easy. The original Beauty Blender is a supreme product and there is no other sponge/applicator that even comes close to doing what the Beauty Blender can do (in my opinion of course). It is expensive but will last a long time if you care for it properly. I recommend getting the black one.
All of these products aren't cheap but honestly, you get what you pay for. These products will last a long time so in the long run, it's a good investment. Go for it! You're worth it. Feel free to PM me is you would like any further advice. I love makeup and I've studied and tried a lot of things.
