SD had the baby - and it was the birth from hell
Poor thing, she seriously has the second-worst birth story I have ever heard.
Thursday night she started having contractions, but not close enough together to go to the hospital. Just enough to keep her awake most of the night. Friday night they started to pick up, so SD and her boyfriend got ready to go to the hospital. Just before they left the house, her water broke. They get to the hospital, and SD has a cough and fever so they did a blood test and determined she had the flu. She is also not dilated at all. Since her water broke, she's on a time limit (risk of infection), so they give her something to help labor along.
The poor thing was in active labor from early Saturday morning until Sunday night!! 36-ish hours of labor, so no real sleep, on top of having the flu, and they wouldn't let her eat anything because her labor wasn't progressing and they were afraid they'd have to do an emergency c-section.
THEN, as if all that wasn't bad enough, the actual birth was awful. She tore badly, almost had to go to the OR to get the bleeding under control, and ended up with more than 30 stitches in her.... ahem. Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ.
And the topper? Because flu is so much more serious for newborns, they also wouldn't let her hold her baby for 12 hours after birth (once her fever was gone).
The baby is beautiful. 
(Although the baby's father is still an asshole.)

I actually know ONE worse
I actually know ONE worse birth story. A friend of mine had to have an emergency c-section, and the epidural (or whatever it is for a c-section) didn't work. No time to replace the line, the baby was about to die. She said her DH passed out - not from seeing blood (he never looked) but because of the way she was screaming. *shiver* Fortunately both she and the baby are OK, but she is never having any more kids, she won't risk it. Can't say I blame her....

:jawdrop: That's an awful story! I wouldn't know what to do if I wouldn't have held DS immediately after he escaped my womb. Aww, that must've been awful for her.
OH MY I FEEL FOR HER, OTHER
OH MY I FEEL FOR HER, OTHER THAN HAVING THE FLU SOUNDS ALOT LIKE MINE. WATER BROKE NO DIALATED OR THINED, HAD TO USE SOME GEL RING THING TO HELP. 28 HOURS ACTIVE LABOR IT WAS FINALLY OVER WITH HORRIBLE TEARING, THE CORD WAS WRAPPED AROUND HIS NECK AND DOC HAD TO LITERALLY PULL HIM OUT. LETS JUST SAY THINGS JUST ARE NOT THE SAME ANY MORE. SO GLAD CONGRATS ON THE BABY

That is the worst story I have ever heard too...but no matter how bad the story, the end result is ALWAYS so worth it!

SD tells me the baby has
SD tells me the baby has beautiful blue eyes, but I have yet to see her awake.
She says the baby sleeps all the time. I told her that would change, but I don't think she believes me.... 
I cannot imagine not being
I cannot imagine not being allowed to hold my baby straight away!!! poor thing.. I was in labour for 22hours, (I wasn't allowed to eat either!) before an emergency c section as DD was *not* doing well. But at least I was able to hold her straight away.. and I didn't have to have stitches :/
I don't think the birth has
I don't think the birth has actually "hit her" yet, if you know what I mean. She's happy the whole birth thing is over, and she thinks the baby is beautiful, but.... I don't know, she's sort of looking at the baby like, "Who are you? And why is my stomach so squishy?" I suspect she's got some sort of PTSD going on, with an experience like that! She'll adjust. I did ask her if she was happy to have her body back, and she said, "Well, yes and no. I mean... my belly WILL go back to normal in a couple weeks, right?" Given that she's a teenager, it just might. God knows it took ME longer, but she has the blessing of youth to help her bounce back, right?

Claire would totally do a c-section!! (In fact she DID in one of the books, although only because the mother had just been murdered and she was trying to save the baby.)
