I know how you feel. I tried to tell my SD's BM that she was struggling with reading a year ago. I said I think she is dyslexic and that she is going to start falling behind. SD has been in 5 schools in 2 years because BM can't settle down or make decisions that aren't about herself. So now SD is failing 2nd grade, and it isn't even her fault! Instead of getting her a tutor or putting her in remedial reading or getting a specialist to work with her, they (BM and SF) put her on amphetamines to "solve" the problem. Problem is, my SD comes from a long line of people who struggle with drug and alcohol addiction. Her mom's father died from alcohol and crack, and her dad's father is in the process of drinking himself to death. Plus, both her birth parents are addicts, her father in recovery, her BM still drinks heavily. So, I worry that, not only will this child struggle in school, but now she will also be taught that the solutions to her problems are in the bottom of a bottle (pill or otherwise) and not inside her. I hope your Skid isn't being drugged into submission/"excellence" like mine. I would rather her be failing and held back and forced into remedial classes than take highly dangerous addictive drugs in 2nd grade just to make good grades.

Oh yes, I have witnessed this myself. This will be all she does.

What's with this phenomenon of drugging kids?? and some of these drugs haven't even been proved to be safe!! And so much of it seems to be single moms with boys, in my experience. It's like they want to drug the "boy" out of them! Parent your kid!!!
