Good answer
Well step kid 17 that refuses to see his dad because his mom would throw a bitch fit if he did because he's the admitted favorite of hers & the grandparents got a "Merry Christmas I love you" text from dad &&&& we went to visit aunt & uncle last night, they gave cards with $ to all the kids & they asked for SS17 mom's address to send the lil shit something & my sexier than ever husband replied "Please just save his gift for when he stops by to see you." (Which will be never... Or when he stops nursing off himsss mama) Seriously it's been four years & in the last year my husband has begun taking steps to be more assertive with his kids and I love it!!! Yes! Some of our family thinks SS17 should be reached out to even if he's rejected this side if the family. What do you think? I think if he can't be bothered to spend 1 hour with these people, he can't be bothered... Period. Don't bother him.

You're right. It's stupid to chase after a brat who can't be bothered to visit. ESPECIALLY if he can't be bothered to visit for the annual gift grab. Even some of the worst skids will show up with a fake smile to grab their gifts and run. It's stupid to send them to him when he can't even stop by for 5 minutes to get it himself.

It may be the mom thats the problem , if he gets ridiculed every time he goes to see his dad, then he probably just doesn't want to deal with the crap, if he is just a spoiled shit then I would do as your DH said and just wait till he comes.
My mom used to pull that crap with my brother, he's the favorite, and anytime my brother expressed he wanted to see my dad who lived 2 states away, she would throw this hissy fit and turn it all around to make it look like she was a victim. Even if he said he missed my dad, same reaction.
