MIL Stirring the pot part 2
So SD's bday came and went. The day before her bday my MIL showed up unannounced at something we had planned for BD. BD is not even 2 yet and is just starting to talk. After our event MIL says let's go to dinner. I reluctantly went to avoid an argument with DH. The minute we walk in MIL says to BD "do you know how to sing yet? You need to learn how to sing b/c we need to sing Happy birthday to sissy, happy birthday to sissy, happy birthday dear sweet sissy happy birthday to sissy." I'm pretty sure steam started to come out of my ears. Why? Why the need to say something like that? Just to get under my skin?
Then yesterday, DH invited MIL over for dinner. Every Sunday we have family dinner with my family. My great grandparents used to host Sunday dinner, then my grandma and grandpa continued that tradition and now that they have passed my parents host Sunday dinner. Usually my mom cooks but I wanted to give her a break and I cooked. Sunday is the day we spend with my family. We already spent Friday night for dinner. MIL walks in and starts to play with BD, she pulls out these little blocks and she says Oh Wow look at what these blocks I have in my pocket spell. They spell ### (SD's name) and then proceeds to say this spells your sissy's name.
After MIL leaves she posts on FB with a tag to SD "When a Toxic Person can no longer control you, they will try to control how others see you. The misinformation will feel unfair, but stay above it trusting that other people will eventually see the truth just like you did." Now since I'm blocked from SD's facebook I can't see if or what she responded.
My husband is a great husband and father to BD and I'm trying everything I can to bite my tongue for his sake. I'm not sure how much longer I can.

If no one stands up to MIL
If no one stands up to MIL about this you will go nuts. BTDT. It is up to DH to handle his mother and PROTECT you from her crazy BS.
Start making it clear to DH that if he wants a happy wife, then he needs to take care of it NOW. No more divided loyalities. No more people pleasing. No more shit eating sandwiches for you.
The he!!? I honestly feel
The he!!? I honestly feel like I dunno, teaching your DD how to spell her own name could somehow take presidence over teaching your DD how to spell SD's name? Just a thought...
SOMEONE needs to say something to her. She sounds annoying.
I agree about the name, but
I agree about the name, but she's also not even 2! She's just starting to say some words so spelling is not even on my radar yet. I think MIL's just trying to do things to get under my skin about SD. Like what a coincidence, you have blocks in your pocket that spells SD's name.
It sounds a bit creepy
It sounds a bit creepy obsessive.... LIke "look, I have blocks to spell out SD's name." *insert creepy witch like gesture here*
Uhg. I thought my MIL was bad
Uhg. I thought my MIL was bad with my 2.5 year old but she isn't this nutty! Obviously your MIL believes you are poisoning your daughter against "sissy" (yuk!) and she's trying to counteract your evil SM witchy powers. I would have to eff with her and burn some sage while chanting incoherently every time she says, "sissy."
It's disgusting. First of
It's disgusting. First of all I hate that "sissy". And secondly I've never kept SD from BD. I don't necessarily call SD to come over and see BD, ask her to babysit or allow SD to take BD out of the house. But if we do see SD I don't make it known to the public that we don't get along.
"Oh look, DD, grandma has her
"Oh look, DD, grandma has her grandkids name in her pocket!, Grandma, why dont you show DD the blocks in her pocket that spell HER name?"
