Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

I agree with your statement above. Usually the stepparents get the blame from the stepkids, when the blame really should go with the parents.
However, I want to add something to that. We stepparents can bear great amounts of resentment towards the skids when the resentment really should be going towards DH and/or BM. Kids feed off of how their parents behave and what rules they do (or don't) put in place. Also, it's the DH's responsibility to not put all of the kid-caring responsibility on the SM's shoulders. Their doing that to the SM often results in our resenting the skids.
I agree...but as someone
I agree...but as someone posted today, at some point people should be responsible for their own actions...my mother ALWAYS talked bad about my uncle's second wife, and good about his first wife...we saw the truth early on and we NEVER treated the second wife with any disrespect AT ALL...and we were in 2-3rd grade when this was going on...
Thank you so much for post
Thank you so much for post this link. I watched it, DH later, and then he called his spawn and asked if they would watch it while he was on the phone with them....
It was a bit of an eye opener for them - just the fact that they aren't the only ones.
One skid is on overload, the other - silence.
This was a very good thing indeed.
