Birthday bummer
So, my birthday was this past weekend, had a wonderful time (skid-free weekend--he traded with BM to have it be that way!)
He'd ordered my "big" birthday present, but it hadn't arrived yet. No big deal, had a terrific time.
So, it's supposed to be delivered today.
Today is skid-day; he'll take off work early to pick her up at school, feed her, take her to sports practice for the evening. Will get home, finish up homework or play a game with her, put her to bed, read with her for half an hour...then spend another couple hours jumping up to check on her and/or dealing with a shrieking skid meltdown. Okay...so it's Monday. I'm all good with doing my own thing on Mondays. I really am.
For various reasons, our Tuesday evenings are even crazier than Mondays.
So, I was figuring, in my head, I'd get my birthday present on Wednesday. No problem!
I just heard from DH...who wondered if I would come to SD10's sports practice, and get my birthday present there tonight.
Ummmm...NO. Why should MY birthday take a second seat to HER sports practice? Waiting 'til Wednesday, SURE! Having to make a special trip, after work, rather than getting to go home and relax, to receive my birthday present while SD plays sports? No, not so much!
Reasonable?
Unreasonable?
I just can't believe he suggested that, like I would jump at the chance to sit through yet another sports practice, listening to the coach yell at SD10 because she's lazy.....

Fair is fair,
Fair is fair, actually....before I moved in, he traditionally provide McD's for the kid on Mondays. Now, he COOKS. Maybe he'll wimp out, and it'll be mac and cheese, yeah. But it won't be McNuggets and a shake!
She DOES need to eat BEFORE I'm going to be home from work this evening (5:00 sales call, AFTER a day at the office), so fair enough on dinner without me.
Kid has anxiety issues..she's seeing a counselor, but she gets (literally) hysterical, afraid she won't be able to fall asleep when she's at our house. Used to be, the terror was "someone will break into my house and kill my Mom when I'm not there." She's over that. Now it's the fear of not being able to fall asleep. (This started with her YEARS ago, before I entered the picture AT ALL--the first episode, her Mom had gotten a kitten, and she would get hysterical, afraid the kitten was going to claw her face while she slept.)
While she's NOT being rational, I recognize that, TO HER, the fear is very real--she sometimes gets so worked up she throws up...
We've made progress...DH no longer allows her to come into our bedroom, if she's upset. Then he upped that to, she's now not allowed to knock on the door, if she's upset--she can get up, can play game (NOT online!) on the computer, or go down and watch TV, but NOT permitted to wake US up.
In trade, he DOES check on her, reassure her that she WILL fall asleep, WILL be okay, if she's awake when he checks.
So, yeah, overall, fair enough. Mondays are just...shot. I get that. I'm really more-or-less okay with that.
Just...don't pretend we're going to be celebrating MY day, in any way, when she's here! Seems reasonable to me!
