My Mother's Day...It is possible to get nice sentiment from our kids...Including the SK.
I had a nice Mother's Day. Went to mass with BS19 and my mom and then out to breakfast. Had dinner the night before with my boys and DH. SS15 and BS19 at our favorite sushi restaurant with the Suki Yaki which is mine and SS's favorite thing. Lot of work but fun.
My BS gave me flowers when I got in the car with Grandma, he had them hidden at her house. We enjoyed breakfast and came home. SS gave me a card when I got home that read "Dear SM (my name) Thank you for everything you have done for me over the years whether it's cooking, cleaning or putting up with my BS, I always appreciate it, Love SS. It was so sweet and huge for him. Years past, he is always a smart ass with these cards. He finds it funny and I get my feelings hurt. I told DH that was nice, he said it was "DH approved". Too funny.
SS never saw his mom yesterday and to our knowledge no texts at all. He usually tells us. DH asked what I wanted for Mothers Day a week back and I said honestly, I want a new faucet in the kitchen. Easy enough, wrong, so many too choose from, I have to go look at another store this week. I never ask for kitchen stuff, but honestly need nothing and my birthday is in a week and anniversary in a few weeks. This way, I get what I want for the house for something that is driving me crazy.
My BS19 went back to college last night for the summer session. He landed a research position working on Stem Cells at the University that will count as a class and decided to take two more classes. Couldn't be more proud, but was kind of looking forward to no school bills for the summer.
Before he leaves as he loads up the car he hands me a card. I sit on the steps to read it and just couldn't be more proud of the kid I raised. "Thank you for always being there for me and for always being a phone call away. It's been an interesting year, but thank you for always being the one I can count on. You truly are the best mother a boy could wish for. So have a Happy Mother's Day. You deserve it. Love you, BS19
To say I was sitting their crying watch him drive away is an understatement. I go upstairs to watch a movie with DH and sure enough that same responsible kid calls that he forgot his School ID and can I go through the dirty clothes and bring it outside because he is turning around. I do and find not only that in his shorts, but my Credit Card and a gift card. Needless to say I am still not done with this kid.
I am on a great high from yesterday, and then this morning get the dreaded text from DH that he is having Dinner tomorrow with SD18. I know it was my idea that he start pushing for more of these, I just don't like the reality of it.
I am sure she is just doing it because graduation is near and she is hoping for gifts. I think I have to have that conversation again that her gift was the extra money we spent on vacation that she ruined. Yeah I am still bitter. This is gonna take awhile.
Happy Mothers Day Ladies!
