SS21 has a FRIEND!!!
I am just so tickled I have to share!
So, BS asked to have his 2 best friends stay the night last Friday- those kids might as well live at our house every weekend. I say of course. SS then pipes up that he might have a friend come over Saturday. He has said this a number of times but no one ever comes, so I just say ok great and leave it at that.
I was so wiped out from my 2nd Covid shot that I slept in until 9 on Saturday (could be a world record for me, I am usually thrilled if I can "sleep in" until 7). Well, I go downstairs in a bathrobe (no bra) and start a cup of coffee and I hear the front door open. I ask what's happening and walk over to see SS dancing in the driveway and a big bearded dude being dropped off by his mom unloading a giant PC gaming system from the back of her car.
I was so happy he had a friend, I didn't even get mad that he didn't tell me someone was showing up at 9am on a Saturday. I rushed up to change and made them breakfast.
Then last night when I dropped him off at welding school, this guy was getting dropping off too and gave him one of those "dude handshake hug" things. SS didn't know what to do, it was adorable! I was so happy for him to have a friend I started crying! He is very much like SS in terms of his disabilities and it is just so great he has someone to connect with in real life!

:) I remember when DS had friends that he
spent time with all the time. It wasn't till late middle school and high school. He is still friends with them, even though they are all now adults and out of college.
Its such a wonderful feeling when you realize they have FRIENDS...and such a relief.
