It's been a long time... Last-Wife is back!
I felt like peeking in this morning, on Mother's Day. I haven't been on since July! I guess that tells a lot about where I have been, but also left a mystery for some. Some of you know I used another site for awhile, and I kept up that way.
But basically, my marriage got better. My skids got easier. I let go. I found that venting wasn't helping, and probably allowed me to fester for awhile, so I walked away from it ALL. For awhile.
Last June, Princess, my SD, was in a horrific car accident, and nearly died. Loghead, my husband, was a real ass about it, and wouldn't open up about his feelings. She spent most of the summer with Loca Grande, her bio-mom.
I called Loghead out and told him he was being an ass. I left town for a few weeks with Gibby, our bio-son, and let Loghead deal with the SSs on his own. Gibby and I stayed with my parents at their summer home, and had a nice vacation.
When I returned home, Loghead had grown a pair, and had learned to take charge of his boys. The house was quieter and a little neater. It probably didn't hurt that both boys had found girlfriends during that time span, and they didn't want to invite them over to a messy house.
Princess and Loca Grande drove each other crazy, and have been on limited speaking terms since. Which makes Princess more balanced. Her hs boyfriend got engaged to someone else at Christmas. She wised up that the older guy (he was 26 and she was 19) she was seeing was using her as a booty call when he got off work at 2 am, and dumped his ass. At Winter semester, she got a part time job on campus, and joined a service organization that volunteers in the community. I think she still has a lot of mental scars from her accident she won't talk about, and she hates the physical ones. She can barely walk, and actually has to use a cane. Three days before her 20th birthday, her surgeon told her to quit complaining, and "be happy" she has a foot! Needless to say, we get a second opinion this week...
Princess is home from college for the summer. She did not qualify for financial aide, and can't really work a job because of her injury. She can't be on her feet for long periods of time. So in the week she has been home, she has been on FB until 2am with her friends and sleeps till 2 in the afternoon. I mostly avoid her as long as she has the chores done I have requested while I am at work.
As a teacher, with mild climates this year, I am finished for the year on Tuesday. I think that's my Mother's Day present. My skids have school until the 22nd, so I get a few days rest. I'm still working my part time job I had last summer. It just started out as a way for some extra cash, but it was nice to have a little fun money, and know little expenses were taken care of without stressing the family budget. I was even able to get PITA his letterman's jacket for Christmas! I loved teaching 6th grade, and that move was a choice. I found out this past Monday, I am being reassigned to teach hs and ms Spanish next year. That, I am NOT happy about, but that's another story.
PITA and Loghead have a MAJOR log cabin construction project set up for the summer. Lazy Boye drives into the big town nearby several days a week to work at a grocery store,
Right now, my house is an absolute disaster. I've had some health issues this Spring, and have had major back trouble. Can't move or lift anything; can't bend down. Gibby has learned to do laundry! He will be 11 soon, and he is an amazing kid! Since I can't move things, and Princess can't move things, everything she brought home from college is piled in the kitchen and the front entry to the house. It's been there for a week. I'm hoping with it beign Mother's Day, it will find it's way to the storage garage today. But I won't hold my breath.
And I've lived in filth all year. I want it clean, but I am not wasting my time cleaning after others. If Loghead gets irritated enough with the slobbiness of the SSs, he cracks down on them for a week, and then it is back to filth. Gibby and I have areas we keep clean for us, and that works. No ones but Gibby wants to help out, and he is earning money for a special vacation for him, me and my parents, so he's fine with it. I plan to use some of my extra money to hire two summer helpers for chores and odd jobs around the house. My skids dont wanna help, even when I offer money, so I plan to hire someone else's kids! My house is clean, I'm happy, and the skids lose out on money- so it seems like a win-win to me!
Loghead. Still clueless. But he tries. And I love him. I'd probably kill him before I could ever leave him. My bedroom is my safe haven now, and he joined me this year on TV watching, and nightly cuddle time.
So right now, things work for me. Not perfectly, but enough that I can live with it... And I'm happy.
