My SO is usually pretty sharp. Sometimes I wonder who's smarter between the two of us... Then he says stuff like he did today and I realize I'm a friggin' genius compared to him.

SO sent me a text today saying that SS3 was being a poop. When I got home from work I actually heard SO snap at SS3, which very rare ever happens. To SO SS3 is a poor innocent child who SO has to convince has the love of anyone. Usually, he lets me do my thing and he does his thing. He coddles SS3 and I actually act like a parent but that's neither here nor there.

Today SO said to me when he was leaving for work 'I don't think I'm scary enough. When my dad told me to do something I did it!'

I responded with 'He listens when I say something.' Because for the most part, he does. Sometimes he has child selective hearing but for the most part he listens very well.

My SO said 'But you aren't scarier than I am...'

You are correct sir, I am not in fact scarier than you are... Most of the time. But any child who thinks that they can get away with not doing what I tell them to, has another thing coming. I don't feel like I have unrealistic expectations, I expect any child that comes into my home to listen and to follow my rules and if that child can't listen or follow the rules then that kid is sh*t out of luck because I am meaner than they will ever be.

And I'm not scary. I'm consistent and I have a specific set of expectations for all kids. And that's really all that kids need besides the basics is consistency.
