Any help appreciated!
Ok so last night my SD (4 yrs old) seemed very upset and kept getting whiney and sad about weird things. For example we were at the barn and she was helping me with the horses (something she LOVES to do). She went out in the grass to play with our dog and came back into the barn crying and said she thought someone was going to run her over with a car.My truck was the only vehicle there and it was not going anywhere. So when we got back into the truck to go home she started to whine and cry again. I asked her what was wrong and she said that she was sad because her BM and BM's boyfriend were fighting a yelling so loud last night that it woke her up and she was scared. So when she called BM to say goodnight SD said something about BM & BF yelling. Her mom had no clue what she was talking about. Come to find out SD made the whole thing up.There was never any fight or yelling and she has been saying things to BM that are not true also. SO frustrating!!!!!!! I dont know when to believe SD and when not to!ANY SUGGESTIONS on getting this to stop?

Hi!
Maybe your SD is confusing her dreams/nightmares with reality. You never know I guess. Maybe you could talk to her and ask if she is having bad dreams. She is so young to be coming up with a lot of lies but I guess it is possible.
My stepson has a problem with lying but he's 11 and trying to get himself out of trouble or make us think something different than the truth. We are still trying to get him to understand that if he wants to be trusted, he must start telling the truth and stop lying! He hasn't gotten it yet.

I agree w/Dawn...perhaps a bad dream. Or maybe child at such a young age like yours does not grasp the idea of divorce/separation yet and can't deal w/having 2 families. Just make sure you reassure the child that everything is okay and that no one is out to get him. That both families love her very much. You can explain the separation issue later on when child is about 5 yrs old. I had almost the same experience when I married my husband and stepson was only 3 yrs old. He made up stories like I hit him on the head and told his mother about it. He lied.
