Delusional Daddy and the day SS's glasses magically broke

Ninji's picture

Last we heard from Delusional Daddy he was fiercely defending his stance that going behind Ninji's back to help BM wasn't actually a favor to BM but was in reality "for the kids"

--------------------------------------
Fade in

Somewhere in central Florida

We zoom in on a tan office building and continue zooming through the walls until was see a women sitting bored in her office

Ring Ring

Ninji picks up phone "Ninji McAwesome how can I help you"

Delusional Daddy in a morose voice "Hey"

Ninji brightly says "Hey, what's up"

Delusional Daddy "SS broke his glasses"

Ninji now hesitant "Ok, how"

Delusional Daddy quickly jumps to defend "He didn't do anything. They just broke. They have been messed up since he got in that fight and punched in the side of the head."

Ninji "Mm-hmm"

Delusional Daddy "He's got a big head too. It stretched the glasses out and broke them"

Ninji "Mm-hmm"

Delusional Daddy "He's had them for a long time"

Ninji "He just got them in Dec and I've had glasses for pretty much my entire life. I've never had a pair just break"

Delusional Daddy getting upset that Ninji isn't buying the excuses starts getting testy "Well, you're not an 11 year old boy"

Ninji "Ok"

Delusional Daddy "That's not really what I called to talk to you about." Delusional Daddy proceeds to talk about a job that fell through. "I know it's upsetting"

Ninji "I'm actually more upset that SS broke another pair of glasses"

Delusional Daddy "It's not his fault. They just broke. I think his mom tried to fix them after he got punched and messed them up."

End Scene

-------------------------------------------------
Fade In

Ninji goes into SS's room and gets his glasses. The left arm is broke off and has a mile of scotch tape wrapped around it.

Ninji speaking to SS "So how did they break"

SS incredulously "They pretty much just fell right off my face"

Ninji "Mm-hmm"

Ninji proceeds to cut the tape off the glasses arm and see a glob of super glue; that is pulled off too. After mere seconds of examination, it is clear the glasses arm was snapped off. It didn't just fall apart.

Ninji walks into SS's room

Ninji says sternly "These glasses didn't just fall off your face. I've been wearing glasses forever so I know the truth. Tell me really happened right now"

SS "Well, I got upset about something and pulled them off my face" SS mimics how he pulled them off his face

Ninji "Ok, and how did the Dr tell you to take the glasses off"

SS hesitentaly says "Carefully?"

Ninji "Yes, but with both hands right"

SS "Yeah"

End Scene

--------------------------------------

Scene turns to a close up of the glasses with the broken arm.

A voice narrates

"So, boys and girls Ninji was able to get the truth from SS with no problem at all. The glasses arm didn't break because SS got punched in the face two months ago. It was the wrong side of the glasses anyway. SS face didn't grow to a monstrous size in 7 months and break the glasses like Delusional Daddy suggested and the glasses certainly didn't just magically fall from SS's face."

"The truth is SS has been using his right and to pull the glasses off his face bending the left arm slightly for several months. Yesterday, he got angry and ripped the glasses off his face and the already weaken arm snapped off."

Narrator in a mocking voice "Sorry Delusional Daddy"

-----------------------------------------

Stay tuned for next week when Delusional Daddy insisted the BM is too broke to help pay for skids clothes even though she's working full time and getting CS. Meanwhile Delusional Daddy hasn't worked since May"

(Cue happy game show music)

LOL Great story Ninji. So is Delusional Daddy going to give BM money to get SS's glasses fixed? Is that why he was making excuses when he called you?

Ninji's picture

We take skids to all appointments. BM is too busy with her night bartending job to take them.

I'm going to take them back and see if they can still use the lenses and just pay for some new (cheap) frames.

Monchichi's picture

I'd like to laugh but it's really not funny. I am having sense of humour failure about it never being the child's fault.

Ninji's picture

Nope. Delusional Daddy absolutely takes SS's word. Even when faced with overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Ninji's picture

I'm not really upset with SS. It happened and hopefully now he will learn how to take his glasses off right (although, he will be paying for the next pair if he breaks another pair).

I just think it's crazy that DH is not interested AT ALL to learn the truth.

Lashy, what is so damn wrong with seeing the kids for who they are? That's my kids I birthed as well as my husbands. My daughters do not sh$t glitter and nor does my SS. What is wrong with you? Why must you be so unkind?

stepmomof1biomomof1's picture

Not sure where you live but if you get the kids glasses from Walmart they will fix them for free. Can not tell you how many times my son broke his glasses the first year he wore them. The only time they charged me was when he broke the nose piece.

This story is funny/sad. Kids who are new to glasses don't use them right, that much is unfortunately true. Hopefully he will have learned a lesson.

Though I will say, one time in college (waaaay long ago) my glasses just fell off my face during a final. I mean nothing happened, I didn't get punched in the side of the head, or grow too much too quickly in the head, take them off angrily, the arm just came off. I had to tape the thing together to take the final. Good times.

Anotherstep, you obviously have a specific type of alien DNA that causes this. The Government has been trying to hide it, but it's slowly leaking out. I cannot tell you which type or I will be banished to the Zone of Avoidance. Dirol

Sorry, anotherstep. Nothing all that glamorous about the ZoA. It's "a region characterized by an apparent absence of galaxies near the plane of the Milky Way Galaxy and caused by the obscuring effect of interstellar dust."

I was watching Supernatural yesterday and one of the episodes has them brothers in a sort of TV sitcom situation.

When I went to bed, I started thinking about the situation in that frame of reference.

Are you sure he wasn't shooting his official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle? Cause you can shoot yer eye out! Wink

I only wear glasses when I'm slumming around home on days off, and at night after I get home from work... but last year the arm on my glasses fell off, I really have no clue how. I could super glue them and get it to stay for a few days, but then every time I would bend over they would fall off my face and stupid thing would come apart again. I did this for like 4 months because I was too cheap to buy brand new glasses (my insurance will pay for new pair every year, but I had to wait until my year was up) lol

So I guess it could/em> happen? Of course the two different versions you got, make DH a liar with his pants on fire to cover for his special snowflake who can do no wrong.

Ninji's picture

That's why I wanted to look at them before I said anything else to SS. The arm was clearly snapped off. My brother always had problems with losing the little screws when he was younger (maybe still does). That's what I thought it probably was until I looked at the glasses.

PokaDotty's picture

Hey, you should also check out glassesusa.com. My husband seems to go thru at least 2 pairs of glasses a year so I just got to the point of ordering them cheaply online.

I started wearing glasses in 3rd grade. One time I broke them by being to rough with them. I tried the "idk how it happened, they just broke!" But they didn't buy that crap. Wanna know what my parents told me? Tough shit, guess you'll have to wait till we can afford new ones. It was a couple of weeks before they could take me to get measured for new ones and I got the cheapest plastic frames that would fit my face. amazingly, I didn't get traumatized by the whole ordeal and it taught me that I need to take care of important things like glasses that help me function in daily life.

Cover1W's picture

I've been wearing them since third grade.
While I've never broken a pair as an adult, I think I broke 2 pairs and LOST a pair when I was a kid. My mother was not happy with me at all.

I was very outdoorsy and glasses just didn't work all that well for hard playing.
No fighting though!

I think chalk this up to lesson learned for him - and if he breaks them again then it's all on DH to handle.

Ninji's picture

Yes, hopefully he will have learned his lesson. This is the second pair that he broke. If he breaks another pair, he will be paying for it himself. He will write me an IOU and he will be paying me back.

Ninji's picture

I haven't said anything about it to DH yet. He was pretty upset about not getting the job he had interviewed for.

Tuff Noogies's picture

take them back to walmart, or ask walmart for a copy of his prescription and order a few pairs from zenni.com

moving_on_again's picture

I have had glasses since the 5th grade and I have never broken a pair. I must be super lucky.
