Dear Valued Users,

It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.

This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.

We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.

We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.

On the topic of energy saving...

Anyone use the plug and play type solar panels? If you have, did you find it worth it? Does it work in a blackout?

I've been thinking about getting one, and an electric generator. So that I can offset my bills each month but also have it charge the generator in the event of a blackout BUT I'm not sure if it's worth it.

I wonder the same thing

I wonder the same thing myself. Me and SO pay a RIDICULOUS amount of rent...we could have a down payment on a house by now...he wanted something bigger.
$400 in oil gets us between 20-30 days and then its time for a refill...that is absurd.
If you know of something inexpensive....please let me know.
