update to Its done blog......Dh's reaction
So ss was in his room watching TV this morning..... Sitting on top of his pile of dirty clothes....like it was some sort of throne.
Dh walked to his door to say goodbye before he left for work. Dh askdd ss once again to clean his room. Dh then as me if I was doing laundry today. I said no.
Then when are you doing laundry?
I finished the laundry already.
But what about ss's clothes, he said you sent them back to hjs room.
Yes, I sent them back because I am not doing them. Thats a MONTHS worth of clothes hes bee too lazy to deal with. I am NOT wasting my days off dealing with his laziness.... Then I walked away.
He told ss to bag up his clothes in garbage bags. (rather than do them himself hes taking them to the laundromat and paying to havs it done). So dh is waiting and ss brings out one huge garbage bag filled with dirty clothes. Dh asks, this is everything? Ss stares at him slack jawed, so dh goes and looks in his room....tons kf clothes still on the floor.
Dh yells at him to hurry it up that he has to leave. Ss comes back out with a half full bag, dh yells at him to fill it up because his floor is still covered in clothes. He comes back out with a second full large garbage bag. Dh asks him, do you not see how rediculous this is? Do you ot see anytning wrong with throwing this much clothds at mommy to wash all at once? Shes not a damn maid.
I happened to be on my way by ss door right then and mentjoned that his room is still full of clothes. Dh says I know, and your school clothes had better be in these two bags. (they werent, I could see uniform shirts all over his floor) and that room better be cleaned top to bottom before you turn that TV on again!
That was an hour ago....hes sitting in his room, surrounded by another garbage bags worth of clothes strewn aroind him watching TV.

Wow. Total battle of the
Wow. Total battle of the wills. I'm proud of you. The image of him sitting on the throne of dirty clothes is hilarious.
he has been allowed to be
he has been allowed to be lazy for so LONG...he does not get it. Go figure. I feel for you.
My mom did this to my brother
My mom did this to my brother once. It took two days and a shovel but his room was clean.
Can we talk about how lazy
Can we talk about how lazy your DH is though as well? I mean seriously. He's giving up an EXCELLENT opportunity to teach this young man 1. How to do his own laundry and 2. responsibility and rule following.
By just having the kid bag up the stuff and dragging it to a laundromat doesn't teach ANYONE how to be self sufficient. Just perpetuates the idea that if I don't do it, someone else will! Now - if you tell me that SS is going to have to PAY from his own pocket for the cost of the laundromat then I might back off my stance a bit. But based on your blogs I don't see that happening.
Upside is YOU don't have to deal with this nonsense anymore!

Hahaaha Good!! Now DH
Hahaaha Good!! Now DH realizes how ridiculous the whole thing Is! And whose fautl it is! That soulds like DAYS worth of doing laundry! Ha! You're not crazy to do it! And good that DH said you are Not a Maid! Maybe SS was letting it pile up because he thought daddy will somehow make You do it! Haha....bet he's pissed now that DH is on your side....However he should Make SS do his laundry, and then he would think twice about letting it pile up again...this is still an easy way out for him...oh and since he is watching TV when DH told him Not to until room is clean...he should take TV out of his room!
Time to unplug the TV and
Time to unplug the TV and take scissors to plug. Then have the kid drop his drawers, bend over and grab his ankles and light his bare ass up with a belt. Tell him he will get the same consequences for each day he fails to keep his room clean. If he does not get the message after a couple of days tell him it will go to an ass whoopin every hour until he gets the message. Once he finally gets his room truly clean he needs a bare ass whoopin each and every time there is anything left out of place.
For a kid with the amount of dirty laundry that this kid has been living under there needs to be a severe no tolerance policy with instant corporal consequences.
Your DH needs to be the one to lay down and enforce the law on this.
IMHO of course.
I'm betting that he does not
I'm betting that he does not get that you won't be doing SS's laundry anymore, no matter the size of the pile.
How does any parent allow
How does any parent allow his/her children to get away with this behaviour? I would come down on mine (bio and step) like a ton of bricks for much less...
As for the TV, we don't allow those anywhere in the house except the living room. I hate the idea of TV in kid's rooms, teenagers are antisocial enough by nature without encouraging them to shut themselves away for hours on their own.
Why doesn't DH make the kid
Why doesn't DH make the kid wash his own clothes? Taking them to the laundromat is still a reward. SS doesn't have to wash his clothes, his pile of rags tactic still worked!
