Constructive Day

Sweetie's picture

Hi,
Well, I had a fairly constructive day considering that I had to try and run errands back to the vet's office to get one dog's special prescription diet canned food. But, I wasn't able to resolve the issue with the puppy's prescriptions until after lunch, so I had to go back after my husband came home from work. Getting the Elizabethan collar hooked on the puppy was a real bear, and he loudly voiced how much he disliked it. We fought for what seemed to be at least twenty minutes before I could get it on him and into his crate. Then, I stopped for some groceries on the way home. Got home, put the groceries away, all the time listening to two of the three dogs loudly barking at me. I was about to completely lose it. I put the 5 year old rescue outside to run and go to the bathroom. He was no problem and had a great time. Then, I let out my 15 year old miniature poodle, the most serious offender of the barkers. Then, the puppy. He was so glad to get out. Then all 3 are back in. Puppy is in a frenzy for an hour before he settles down. Whew! I was tired. My husband has no concept how cleaning, wash, or anything else gets accomplished here. Or where the pool supplies come from either! Like magic, flying in on a fedex carpet? You think? Guess everyone is experiencing this problem this week.
Hope the weekend brings renewed hope and humor.
Regards,
Sweetie

Is your puppy doing well? Is he in pain? Can he walk on his leg? I am just curious and hoping that he is doing much better since his surgery.

My Aunt recently rescued a Shih Tzu from the Humane Society where she volunteers. It was picked up as a stray and they discovered that it had heart worms. The Humane Society said that they couldn't afford the treatments for the dog and had already filled out the paper work to put it down. My Aunt stepped in and her and my parents are going to each pay half for the treatments. Then she will let the dog stay at her house while it recovers. Then it will be up for adoption, that is if my Aunt doesn't fall in love with it and adopt it herself!

Anyway, have a good weekend.

Hi All,
My puppy Bullet is on the mend and generally voicing his opinion that he doesn't like being crated when we aren't available to watch him. In fact, he finds the Elizabethan collar more than a bit irritating! Looks like he got himself stuck in a lampshade! Actually he looks pretty pitiful. He is not allowed to put weight on the leg and is in a splint. The vet put a pin in to connect the bone chip and tendon back to the bone and wired it there. We go back to the vet's next Thursday to get the staples out from the incision (I think) if all goes well. But it will be quite some time before he can walk on it. The splint acts as a crutch for him. But we have to carry him outside to the bathroom and pretty much everywhere else and I must tell you he is getting heavier by the day! Greyhound puppies are extremely active anyway, and with him being kept confined, he is in an absolute frenzy. The sedatives the vet ordered don't touch him and I have had a difficult time trying to control him as I am worried that he will do more damage to his leg.
He is normally very happy, but these days he is full of vinegar!
