How old are you? >>> 44
How old is your DH/SO? >>> 45
How old are your kids? >>> 18yr boy – 22yr girl
How old are skids? >>> 18yr boy
How long have you been in this step situation? >>> 10ish years – first 8ish we did not live together so I really was not a part of a step family. Got married two years ago and almost immediately became custodial.

Our daughter is 13mths so just a little over a yr old

My SS is 7 about to be 8 in Aug.
How long have you been this step situation?
I have lived with my DH two years been married for one and together for three. But I am on my second summer of full time stay at home mom for my daughter and SS.

How long have you been this step situation? 8 years, lived together pretty much the entire time. Became FT SM 6yrs ago when SS's BMwent to prison.

How long have you been this step situation? Together 3 years, living together 2 years, married for 1 year. First year of relationship was long-distance (~400 miles apart.)

Today, I gotta admit, I'm REALLY wondering now WTH I was thinking, giving up everything to move here...

My mother was 25 and my father was going on 36 when they got married back in 1966. They each had a child from their previous marriages. My sister's bio father wasn't in the picture much, our Dad gave her away when she got married. My brother's mother and my parents seemed to get along. My parents have been married for 45 years.

I have two younger sisters. One married a man 10 years her senior, he had a daughter and a crazy BM from his first marriage. Her twin married a man nearly 12 years older than she, also with a daughter from a previous marriage. My sisters got married the same year, so they've been married a long time....19 years.

Just wanted to give you a little hope that it can work out with a 10 year age difference. Smile

How long have you been this step situation? DH and I got together casually June of 2006. We moved in together and got engaged March of 2007. SD5 was 10 months old when I first met her and about a year and a half when I became a regular fixture. SD14 was 9 when I first met her and I became a regular fixture in her life when she was 11.

How long have you been this step situation? together 13 years, married almost 8.

I cannot express how invaluable this board has been to me. I came here when youngest sd decided to move cross-country to do her last year of hs with us. And brought her mother with her (in attitude, entitlement,etc). And ruined me financially and then left. And now, 4 years later, my bd needed a temporary place to stay - with us- and my dh has gone berserk over it. No give, no understanding - it is so awful and I can't believe it is happening. I understand NOW, after being here, what it was like for him when he moved in with us 8 years ago - like so many stepdad stories. But now is not then, my daughter and I are working so hard to work with it differently, to no avail. It's very sad. To have been disenfranchised as the SM, to be unsupported as the BM now..... ugh.

How old are your kids? My baby is a 1 year old. She is a little feisty one. Sometimes she stares me down with this look and then she starts barking at me!
How old are skids? SD15 and SS13, they have an older brother that is 24 yrs old but I don't consider him my SS. Since I didn't help raise him.

How long have you been this step situation? How can 5.5 years seem like fricking forever??? But mercifully, I only have 3 more years of dealing with EOWE, holidays and 6 weeks in the summer. After DH's kid graduates from HS, we will be re-evaluating our jobs and where we live. We're both ready for a change.

Lived with DH for 9 months in 2002. Returned to my home country in Nov 2002, Ue found he couldn't live wihtout me (awwwww!) and came over and proposed in Oct 2003. Then the fun and games with visas and immigration began (yes we did it the right way) Married since July 2004.

How long have you been this step situation? Will be 4 years together in October, married 1.5 years....but living apart for 7 weeks now....working on things, but not rushing back into anything too quickly!!

I also agree with the thought had I known then, things might be different now, but I have a beautiful baby girl, so I'm thankful for her.....but you better believe if she EVER wants to be with a man who already has kids, I will not think twice about giving her my SM spewl!!!
