OT- Had to put my babyboy kitty to sleep

goincrazy.com's picture

I'm heartbroken.

My kitty got out and most likely hit by a car, he made it back home with a broken ankle and mangled foot. The injuries were bad and he would need extensive surgeries and care of over $10,000 USD. WE had no other choice but to put him to sleep. He was only 7. I'm just devastated, can't stop crying Sad

I'm leaving work early, I'm a hot mess.

Oh, and SD16 HATED my cat.

Just needed some support, I know some animal lovers out there will understand

My sympathies to you losing a four-legged family member, or any family animal can be devastating.

I know in the past I'd say 5 months my brother and SIL lost a cat due to being ran over, that they didn't get to fast enough and they are both vets, and then couple weeks ago one of their dogs wondered off and passed away in which they found out later they felt it had a disease he had been hiding well. This just shows all the money in the world, or even veterinarians can't always save their own animals when the time has come.

Your kitty is in a better place and screw SD my dad used to have pets I didn't like but it's a living being it deserves respect, and respect in it's passing. I would grieve alone without SD around or find something to do alone or just you and DH to ensure you get the proper grieving time.

**Poem For Cats

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.**

Just a reminder you did what you could, and that cat knew the love you and your family gave it, animals have there time but I feel like mean a lot and are a especially great support to those in our SM situations. Time will get ease pain any hopefully y'all can get a new cat.

thank you, It's frustrating the cost that is involved to care for injured animals. I wanted so bad to save him. He was stable it was just his leg and his foot- we just can't afford it Sad

I completely understand - my brother/SIL try to be reasonable in certain situations an they run a 24hr emergency clinic as they live 5 minutes from the clinic, but some medicines and surgeries even when been conservative the risk and cost for them, and depending on time (I have a 3yr old nephew, and 1yr old nice) of being away from family at all hours is just more than some can handle, and like I said depending on the situation they try to be as conservative and helpful.

Just know that like I said even vets can't save their own animals I believe their cat had been ran over and had bled to much before they retrieved him.

My heart goes out to you.
