DD11 is impossible to be around!!
This age is sooooo impossible. My DD11 is so pissy with me and all I ever do is try to help her!! Is this normal? Seems she is only nice to me when I am buying her clothes or sweets or something that she wants..
An example of her attitude: She asks me for help with her homework and then when I try to help her she argues with me and eventually I raise my voice a bit and she accuses me of shouting at her, but it is out of sheer frustration. I hand her my laptop to do her own research (on parts of the digestive system) and she refuses it. I am so upset now that I just want to be away from her presence. Sounds harsh but I can't handle it.
She is quite mature for her age and has very grown-up ideas sometimes (she was sexually molested as a 4-5 y/o by her half brother).
Where did I go wrong with her? or is it a stage? I fear she is in the pre-puberty stage and is already experiencing PMS (she will be 12 in June).
She is the baby in the family and sometimes I think that I have spoilt her out of guilt for the break-up when she was 6 y/o & that is was she has an 'entitlement' attitude.
I would appreciate advice..
SD12 was the same way with
SD12 was the same way with her mom, and mom had a a hard time eventually asking DH to deal with her.
I know I gave my parents a hard time too around that age.
Even if you think you caused the "entitlement attitude" as did the BM in my SD's situation, now is a good time to try setting her straight.
It's going to take disciplince and perseverence on your part. Try not to take the attitude personally. Good luck!

My SD is 11 and will be 12 in June also. She's driving me FREAKIN CRAZY!!!! More so than usual. }:) Everyone keeps telling me its the hormones. So I guess I need a membership in the club too!

I used to teach middle school, and believe me, 9 out of 10 middle school girls are like that! It's a constant drama fest! Nothing is their fault, all the teachers are out to get them, they nit pick at everything, gossip, etc.....I moved down to 3rd grade!!!! lol
Yes we should definitely join
Yes we should definitely join a club!!!
I find that ignoring her behaviour sometimes helps. Kids of today seem more intense about everything, school, friends, clothes etc etc. I am sure I wasn't this bad!!
Anyway thanks everyone for the input.
