"Proper verification"
Ok. BM has sent a receipt that came from a counseling session for SS9. However, there is no superbill or anything that proves that this expense was for SS9. It is literally just a copy of a credit card payment receipt that the office gave her. We know you can request a superbill as we have done this to prove that the expense was for the child. We have asked BM not once but twice now to provide a copy of the superbill as a "receipt" doesn't show it was for the child. Is that too much to ask?? We want a copy for our records and just because you sent a receipt from the office doesn't mean it was the child's account. She could have sessions there too and the receipt doesn't have anything but the payment amount on it. She has yet to provide this information and we feel it is reasonable because it can't be disputed if it is for SS if there is a superbill attached. The place had no problems with that at all either. I think BM just wants to be able to say "here is what I paid this is for SS" when it comes to medical. So who decides what "proper verification" is. In the CO it says "the including party has to notify the other party within 30 days of receipt of bill or payment made with the proper verification."

In my mind, proper verification means showing who was treated and what they were treated for. If you are paying BM directly, the bill also needs to show it was paid. We had to ask BM several times for detailed receipts because we didn't trust her. After some prodding she usually sent them.
She once sent almost a years worth of receipts and I found several that were for her. I don't know if it was deliberate or just sloppy record keeping. In any case, I didn't want to run any chance of paying one of her bills.

I would think that the patients name and the name of the doctor are pretty standard details to need. Just keep asking for some sort of paperwork with the that every time she asks, noting that when you get it your husband will be happy to pay. If your feeling generous you could even say what was said here that calling the office and asking them to mail a copy of the superbill worked for you in the past.
When she really wants the money she will either go to court or call the doctors and ask for the paperwork. I imagine showing a judge any email/text message history with those repeated and reasonable requests will show that your husband is being reasonable.

Ok so if it looks just like a receipt for a doctor that kinda reminds you of a store receipt it is not acceptable? That is where I have a problem. I know she can get a superbill. I mean they don't just give them but she can request it.

This is exactly what we would receive from BM. We did not accept it and she would eventually give us a detailed bill. If you were giving a bill directly to your insurance company or FSA for payment they would require a detailed bill.
See...we went and talked to
See...we went and talked to the counselor without SS but it was an appointment made FOR him and was ABOUT SS. So we are requesting reimbembursment for that as well. We didn't have to go to counseling... It was solely because we are questioning the diagnosis. Now we think the counselor is questioning if as well as she herself said that DH and I see a totally different kid that what BM, the school, and the office sees. So can we even be reimbursed for that? The counselor wanted to see DH and I and made the appointment under the child.
How would you word an email
How would you word an email about requesting proper verification?? We will attach our copy of the superbill and receipt of payment as well.

Please send me a super bill or detailed bill for the office visit of (date.) I received your receipt for payment, but I also need a copy of the actual bill showing that (Child's Name) was treated and the ailment for which he/she was seen by the Doctor.

May I just point out that BM works at a doctors office so she should know that a "receipt" like she gave would be unacceptable? Lol thanks. She is a pain to deal with

Yup. Lol ok so upon speaking to the paralegal... She said that this form of receipt does NOT constitute as "proper verification". Which we knew. But she also said that when we email we need to request proper verification and give a date that it has to be received by. If she has 30 days from date of receipt of bill that means she has 30 days period?? Or does she get extra days because we are just now emailing her and she waited til the 20th to send anything??
