Should CPs receiving CS have to undergo drug tests?
Iowa State Senator Mark Chelgren thinks so: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/13/drug-testing-child-support-iowa...
I like this guy and will donate money to his campaign when he runs for re-election!

I agree too. As I was reading
I agree too. As I was reading through the comments I also had to wonder if any of those posters are crazy CP BMs themselves.
Sounds good to me. I wonder
Sounds good to me. I wonder how he feels about requiring NCPs to take drug test in order to have court ordered visitions?
I like that one too!
I like that one too!
I for one would like this.
I for one would like this. My SS17's bioscum BM would never get to see her kid.
I have to disagree. There are
I have to disagree. There are so many BMs out there who do spend the CS on drugs and/or other things non-related to their kids. This has been going on for far too long, and it is time the system truly helps these kids and cracks down on those abusing the system (BMs using CS for non-kid-related expenses, especially serious ones like drugs).
I just feel that at least it
I just feel that at least it is a step in the right direction. You can't start off running immediately. You have to take small steps first. At least this politician realizes that there are CP BMs out there who abuse the system.
I think if a history of use
I think if a history of use is present the it is appropriate, but mire so than that, I think that the cs receiving parent needs to provide receipts if doubt is cast on how cs is spent. Our Bm recieves cs, but does not have custody. (our state sucks). She complaines if we don't send stuff to her house for sd, she complained that she had to buy a pack of undies, she complained when cs was a few days late because her cell bill was late then.... It's hard to justify handing this stupid Bm our money when she uses it to get her hair, nails done... Pays her cell etc. We have texts backing up her pouts about her using it for personal use, but our cs worker said tough cookie we just had to suck it up and keep paying her. If the money benefited sd it wouldn't be a problem, but how does us paying a woman hundreds of dollars who sees her 2x a month benefit her? Would be nice in circumstances such as ours to ask where the money is going, and if she isn't using it to benefit sd then she should be cut off or reduced.
Well, I think aid recipients
Well, I think aid recipients should be drug tested.
Personally, parents on drugs shouldn't have kids period... whether they are NCP or CP.
Taking the illegality out of the equation, let's replace drugs with alcohol and tobacco.
First, this is totally hypothetical for me, as my XH currently owes tens of thousands in CS.
Let's say:
I work.
XH pays CS.
We have two children.
I smoke a pack a day and drink expensive champagne. (or whatever...I don't drink much so I don't know a good example.)
XH gets all pissy. HOW DARE I spend CS on smokes and booze. How dare I get my nails done? My hair done? Etc.
Well, a damn good argument can be made that CS is spent on housing, food, clothing, assorted expenses for our children and MY income is used on booze and smokes. No? That's just how I see it.
I remember getting SO pissed that BM went and bought a new car while we struggled to make ends meet. I thought, well, of course she can afford a new car with all the CS she's getting from us.
Truth is, and now I'm more mature and can see it, that she worked. She received CS (as she should have) and she bought a new car. Could she have afforded it without CS? Probably not. But that would make the entire financial burden of a child hers and hers alone. We had three additional children and I was SAHM so we had the one income. Of course we couldn't afford a new car.
Then, when we COULD afford a new car, BM got all pissy and filed for an upward mod of CS. She lost.
