Question for those with teen girls
Alright I'm just going to warn you that this is a gross question so stop reading if you're squeamish. I have 2 boys so I don't have anyone to compare my oldest SD to and I'm hoping someone with teen girls or SDs can tell me if this is normal...
When she has her monthly visitor she reeks of fish. To the point that her room smells, the bathroom smells, the trash. I don't have a good relationship with her, so it's nothing I can discuss with her directly. And obviously my DH is very uncomfortable when I broach the topic with him. He usually denies smelling anything but even if he did, I doubt he would discuss it with her, not that I can blame him.
Is this a hygiene issue or do you think it's worth a dr visit? She wears pads. Anyone else have this experience?? I'm wondering if maybe we all smell but just don't notice our own scent? But I've never smelt it on any of my friends, co workers.
Sorry if this was gross but I'm at my wits end with the stench.

Menstrual blood smells worse
Menstrual blood smells worse and stronger when it has been collecting longer. And some woman just smell stronger.
I bet it is hygiene. How often is she changing her pads? Is she slack about showering? My DD does not smell when she gets her monthly. She uses tampons during the day and pads at night. I only know it's that time because of the hormonal drama.
? Thrush? Can you approach

Can you approach her mother?
One of the signs of Bacterial
One of the signs of Bacterial vaginosis is a strong fishy odor - she should probably see a gynecologist. Absent that, I would think changing her pads more often would help.
I would say: It's the lack of
I would say: It's the lack of oxygen flow to the area due to the pads, causing bacterial growth.
It's a dark, warm, moist area with nutritional rich blood, the bacteria are certainly causing the smell your detecting.
She needs to change pads more regularly and shower daily if not twice to get all the excess blood out of any public hair, sitz baths would be advised.
And wear only cotton panties during that time.
Good luck An MD consult to explain or better yet an NP might be a little less uncomfortable for both you and your DH
It's most likely bacterial
It's most likely bacterial vaginosis. Yeast infections would not cause a smell. She should see a GYN for confirmation and a prescription.
