Frustrating

Okay so a couple some time has gone by and I took the advice of someone on here and I totally turned the other cheek to my Mother-in-Law and things have been so much better. I don't talk to her at all unless I have to. I am very nice when I see her. It does seem to bother her to some extent and I have to say that I can not help the bubble of joy I feel at making her feel outcast-ed in my family the way she has made me feel in parts of hers. Although now she is more dedicated with BM more than ever. We have a wedding coming up in a month and she is invited because my youngest SD is the flower girl. That was quickly squashed because she has managed to piss off the sis-in-law and was uninvited. Now my mother-in-law is busy causing problems with my sis-in-laws new soon to be family. But, now my attention is turned to holidays. My DH works offshore and he will be home for Thanksgiving and Christmas, what to do? Going to my families house will be the answer if we do not have both SD. If we do tho I am at a loss, because I refuse to be trapped by the Mother-in-law and BM. We could take the girls to my moms house but I am sure they want to spend it with their own family as mine lives so far away that they barely know them. Recently on the Fourth of July we had the kids, I went and purchased fireworks for both of my SD because they don't get to do things like that with their mom. We would have liked to share them with the rest of the family but they went to Mother-in-laws family, which we usually go there, but come to find we were not invited but BM was. It's very frustrating for all of my kids involved as well as my husbands. What to do on Holidays

take a family vacation, with or without the stepdaughters. We had holiday issues for years - dh and i would need to be at my family's celebration, his familie's celebration and would always be waiting til the last moment to find out if bm would be seeing ss so that we could make plans around that. If we or ss did not show up to any of these three celebrations, we would get angry, guilt tripping phone calls all day. Last year we said fuck it, pardon my french. Now we save all year and the three of us take a vacation every year on the major holidays. And I actually enjoy christmas again.
