I'm so happy!

daysleeper's picture

After SD showed up yesterday in her pajamas from school, I ranted to SO about how lazy BM is, and he agreed, and said that the only thing that he could do was make sure that she didn't dress that way when she left our house.

This morning, she dressed herself, and her clothes were... oh, it looked like she had put those clothes together because it was the only clothing that she owned. I shot SO a look. And LO AND BEHOLD! He made her change into matching clothes! She had a tantrum, which isn't unexpected, but this is the first time that I've really seen him be a parent- usually he's so scared of hurting her feelings that he never disciplines. I am so happy right now. She looks nice, and he's giving her needed boundaries.

Frankly, my disengaging has kept any real battles from occurring... but I'm really happy to see that he's showing signs of being a dad now. After talking to him about this stuff, I'll make a parent out of him yet.

I guess I just don't see the problem with wearing pajama pants to school, unless they're a bright color that really sticks out. Kids are wearing far more inappropriate clothing to school these days than pajama pants.

They were pink leopard print, and they were made of that fuzzy microfiber that robes are made of. Trust me, if you'd seen it, you would have thought that she had no parents.

Thank you, Echo! You said everything that I was thinking, and more eloquently, too! Biggrin

Also, your daughter sounds like the kind of girl that I want SD to be - speaking her mind and full of conviction and good sense and self respect!
