answers
1) Clean the bathroom(s)? I pick it up everyday..thorough cleaning prob. 2x's a week..something about a dirty, dusty bathroom makes me gag. I can't take showers if there is any dirt at all in tub..or anywhere in bathroom at all..I'm OCD about that
2) Do laundry
everyday it seems at least 1 load gets done.
3) Cook
everyday! Except for Fridays..I REFUSE to cook on Fridays and some Saturdays
4) Do dishes
everyday It's supposed to be my daughter's chore..but unless I "remind" her it doesn't get done..and find it strange I find dishes soothing (it's one of times everyone leaves me alone)
"He grew up in my heart, not my belly"
My cleaning schedule...
1) Clean the bathroom(s)? - Never, I have a cleaning lady. Best $100 a month I could possibly spend. She does it twice a month.
2) Do laundry - At least one load a day, often two.
3) Cook - H or I cook every night. Me more in the winter, him more in the summer.
4) Do dishes - Run the dishwasher AND do dishes daily.
Overall, I keep the living areas tidy and the kids clean their own rooms every two weeks. I used to clean (and I mean CLEAN) every week. From pulling out furniture and dusting the baseboards to wiping down my bottles of cleaning supplies. Fortunately, having children has corrected my OCD. It's hard to be OCD when you only have 37 seconds a day to yourself!
I grew up with a "cleaning lady"
since we can definitely NOT afford that and we live in a small apartment that is out of the question... LOL
but one day, If i could afford it i would definitely do it... hehe

I have begun to disengage because of BF & BM so...
1.) I used to clean BOTH bathrooms once a week on Fri (before skids come over). NOW I clean MINE once a week, and let BF clean skids/BF's bathroom. I may go in once a month and do a real scrub down.
2.) I do laundry all at once every weekend Fri-Sun night. I no longer do the children's since I ALWAYS sent them home with clean clothing, now BM NEVER brings clothes with them (and BF doesn't have $$$ to buy any), so I send them home with dirty clothes (dirt, mud, urine, whatever, I don't care anymore). Also, BM has all the jammies that we bought at her house, so they sleep in what they wore for the day now and are sent home wearing them in the a.m.
3.)BF does cook sometimes, but I prepare at least 1-2 meals a day, everyday.
4.) Mon-Thurs I immediately put dishes in the diswasher after they have been used. Fri-Sat I make sure they sit there so BF can see how much work it is, and sometimes he helps. If I can't take it, I run the dishwasher about 2 times a day on the weekends.
My house is only dirty Fri night- Mon a.m. I am a very clean person, but now the skids are a factor, no one appreciates what I do or and no one cleans up after themselves, and BF doesn't teach the children how to pick up after themselves, so I try to leave everything so BF can see the disaster.
Let's See
1 - MB gets tidied every other day, but SCRUBBED weekly and sometimes twice a week. Kids clean their bathroom Twice a week also and keep it tidy throughout the week. If company is coming there is an additional cleaning thrown in.
2 - DH likes to do a load every other day. When I do laundry I like to do it all on Thursday or Friday.
3 - DH and I cook almost daily. Friday's are our eat out nights. During the week we cook and somedays there are leftovers that show up on a lazy day that neither of us feel like cooking on.
4 - Dishes are cleaned DAILY. We do not use the dishwasher as it works, but is an older model and not energy efficient. The skids do the dishes and DH normally scrubs any big pots. IDK because anyone can wipe out a pot. It's not like the food is burned in them to require scrubbing, but HEY.
So kitchen and 2nd bath are Skid chores. They rotate weekly.
Anyone can take the easy way out and blame others. BUT it takes a a person of character to take a look at one's self and actions and own responsibility for their part. ~ ME ~ }:-P
My old schedule
Before I completely disengaged-
I am off every Friday, so I would clean top to bottom. Baseboards, oven, stove, microwave, mop, vacuum, sweep, dust, vents, ceiling fans, etc. My day off, and I spent the entire time cleaning. But once they came home, you couldn't even tell.
Bathroom- every Friday. DEEP DEEP cleaning. Pick up daily
Laundry- 2 loads a day
Cook- every night. FH would grill some nights. Weekends- breakfast, lunch and dinner
Dishes- twice a day. Morning and night
New Schedule-
Bathroom- NEVER. I pick up my bathroom, but make FH do the cleaning. Kids are responsible for theirs.
Laundry- NEVER. I run my wash thru, and leave the rest.
Cook- NEVER
Dishes- NEVER
Life is good right now. It's been two weeks. Loving the break. FH is starting to struggle. I usually would disengage for a week, but it was never long enough. I am so OCD that I would cave and start picking up b/c I cannot stand living in a mess. Now, it's so busy that I don't even look anymore. FH used to wait me out and let the laundry pile up for a week. At two weeks, its unmanageable for him, but I just laugh. Now he's playing catch up.
LMFAO
at your new schedule...

I feel ya 2B
I too am off Friday's. I would spend ALL day on my day off, cleaning, scrubing, ect.
Now, F-it!
My FH,however, could careless what the house looks like. It would be an inhabitable shithole if I left it. And I too cave because of OCD. I can't live like that!
My plan...to stay with family the last 3 months of our lease. Then he can see what it's like to do it all on his own.
FH MAJOR problem is, BM never worked for the 5 years they were together. She HAD the time to do this shit, I however work. FH was also used to me cleaning and taking care of everything before we moved to be closer to skids. Yeah, that was fine when it was just him and I, now we have 2 other extremely messy humans to clean up after and co-habitate with. I didn't spawn these kids, I don't see why I need to do this anymore. I'm sick of it and I'm done.
1)I tidy up the bathroom
1)I tidy up the bathroom everyday, scrub it down about 2 times a week.
2)I do all the laundry 1 day a week. When the kids get out of school they get to help me :)...thank god!
3)I do all the cooking unless I am sick or just not in the mood. And if that happens either my husband will cook or we just get takeout. He prefers me to cook since he thinks I cook better.
4)I usually wash them everyday unless I don't feel like it in which case I just put them in the dish washer and wash whatever doesn't fit by hand.
The kids chores switch everyday. On the even days of each month my daughter (SD) has to put dishes away, take the first shower at night, clean up the bathroom sink after she and her brother brush their teeth...on the odd days of the month my son (SS) has to do the same things as well. Both kids have to fold the towels when laundry has been washed as well as their own clothing which they put away themselves. They also make their own beds.
They have been taught to make their own beds before I came into the picture! And that was in 2005 when they were 6 and 7.
1) Clean the bathroom(s)? I
1) Clean the bathroom(s)? I HATE CLEANING THE BATHROOMS! I MIGHT HALF ARSE CLEAN MINE BUT THE HUBBY DOES IT MOSTLY AND I REFUSE TO CLEAN THE SKIDS BATHROOM... NO WAY NO HOW
2) Do laundry- I DO MINE AND HUBBYS LAUNDRY. AT LEAST ONE LOAD A DAY, THE BD'S AND SKIDS DO THEIR OWN.....
3) Cook- IT AMOUNTS TO EVERY OTHER DAY I GUESS....
4) Do dishes- NOPE NOT GONNA WELL I DO SOMETIMES ON THE LITTLE MESSES BUT IF I COOK THEY CLEAN!
Serious intense
Serious intense cleaning-daily
Washing walls, ceilings-weekly
Steam cleaning carpets-weekly
Cooking and doing dishes-Yep me daily
Laundry-every couple of days again me
Now light lawn care is me daily
Mowing- me weekly
Yes people I do it all. One reason can't get sd to lift a finger. The girl is so lazy I'm surprised she doesn't need a respirator to breathe. Second reason is that when H forces her to do any cleaning I end up going over it all again because she does a half ass job. I can't stand the thought of dirt in my house. Drives me nuts.
My mom taught me that when I was
growing up "to do everything right the first time, so i don't have to do it again" or "do it right or don't even try"... etc...

I had that half ass problem with the skids. I would just make them do it over-and-over-and-over until they got it right. NOW, they do it right the first time.
SS used to half ass clean the bathroom and I would basically white glove test him. If not right, he did it over. One time he cleaned the bathroom 4 times, yep FOUR times in one day. He was so mad at me. Well I tell you what, that 12 year old cleans a bathroom better than some grown folks I know.
Also, we have the California Closets in each of the bedrooms. SS would basically jumble everything in the drawers and drape things across the hangers to rush outdoors. I would do random spot checks and if things were not tidy, EVERYTHING that was out of place got dumped into the middle of the floor so that he could try again. We only had to do that one twice. Everyone raves at how clean my kids rooms are and swears that we clean them for them. NOPE. THey know that their parents are crazy, evil AND mean. They do it right the first time and that way not have to worry about us. LOL.
SD was a whiner and would half ass it. She would cry her way through her do overs and we just shut the door and ignored her. She wasn't allowed TV or company until it was done. SHE too figured it out.

ME TOO
To the list AND to the problem! I have a book called Life_is_a_Verb by an author who also has a blog called 37_days. The title and theme of the blog are based on her SF passing away 37_days after receiving a cancer dx, and she asks of the reader to imagine what they would do with those last 37_days if they knew that was all they had left.
My mom wrote her that she'd spend it trying to clean out all her junk so that none of us would have to do it, would be able to find the important papers, and not seeing the house a mess. Sad, but true and I am pretty sure it's what I would be doing too, costing me some of those 37_days, til all that cleaning and sorting killed me off sooner!

If I am sick...
As soon as I feel better I walk downstairs into a sink overflowing with dishes, and a dishwasher half full of clean ones that everyone is using as needed rather than putting them away. Of course the stacked sink is preferable to the ones sitting around on every available surface in the house. I find socks, baseballs, candy wrappers, etc shoved into couch cushions, shoes of every kind in every room, sometimes in the middle of the floor, the desk where we do all our banking and household planning is stacked high with mail tossed every which way, and kids toys and electronic devices are strewn about the floor, the ottoman, the mantle, the entertainment center and the kitchen table.
And the LAUNDRY room? Contains about 10 loads, unsorted, while both dryers have loads that are being used the same way the clean dishes in the dishwasher were. The washer usually is holding a load that new smells like mildew because no one remembered to change it. And there are enough clothes hoarded in BSs and SD's rooms that another 5 plus loads will appear as soon as I'm down to 3 or so left, and think I see a light at the end of the tunnel.
And cook? I have all but written that off at this point with driving SD to 2 or 3 sports teams practices and games every week, and both BSs to different baseball games/practices, AND BD to her few kids activities a week. DH keeps hoping I'll decide to start cooking again, and MIL made a judgmental comment about how rarely I cook these days (BM never cooked so I'm sure she thinks that's comparable to me, though BM had ONE kid and a DH who was deployed a lot.)
Anyway...I hate everyone waiting me out like I'm the maid, and what irks me most is my mom lived with the same battle, though we only did it with dishes as we all cleaned our own stuff up and did our own laundry.

Well...
I guess I should say that I OWN my problem. I will clean a CLEAN house for hours. FH is always on my case about "sit down, the house is already clean".
It drives me crazy when there is even ONE dish on the counter, in the sink, sitting on the table, even if someone is drinking out of it. It drives me up a wall. I think I seriously have a problem. So, it isn't that my family doesn't help out (my kids are young.. they do what they can) FH is a great help. But it can never be clean enough. Maybe I should seek help?

My mom...
Was JUST like that... She would CLEAN and CLEAN nonstop... and complain about imaginary messes...
Well... I'm not like that at all, and to be honest, with a 5 year old and a one year old is almost IMPOSSIBLE to have a clean house 100% of the time... sometimes I'm picking up the toys and putting them back in the toy box and the closet, and my 1 year old is taking them back out while I'm putting them back in, or after a few minutes of cleaning... is really hard... sometimes i just give up for the day...
I can tell SD5 to pick up after her, but she doesn't do it right, and takes her Sooooo long... i end up doing after shes done it...

My answers are going to be changing....
"To Thine Own Self Be True" William Shakesphere
1. Bathroom-straighten it up daily, clean it good a couple x's a week.
2. From now on, only my own, as needed.
3. Cook when I feel like it (which is rarely-I eat a lot of cereal)Now that Mom is better, she can start preparing meals for her and dad again. Whew. I love 'em, but have you ever tried carrying a bunch of pots & pans full of hot food over, every nite, and no one even holds open the door? Burn, burn, ouch.
4. Dishes. Mine. As needed.
I like this list so much better than how the old one looked!
