Ss birthday went OK until social media
We somehow managed to pull of ss 12 birthday without any agro
Given we'd planned something for the day, got it dropped on us that we shouldn't feed him too much as bms doing a meal on the night, AND oops she forgot he'd got football all morning. That sort of lark...
This morning dh woke up and said 'what the?!'
Ss is liking dh fb posts... So just turned 12 is apparently the age to start a tik tok and fb account, despite it not being allowed in the UK at least?
Dh asked me if he should contact bm and have it out, I just shrugged, not my circus, stay disengaged

He can't control whether or not BM allows SS to have social media, and from the sounds of it, she's not the type to entertain any kind of co-parenting discussion about it. He'd be better off trying to help SS use social media in a reasonably healthy and responsible way.

I think that he could report the account ot facebook etc if the boy is below their minimum age. They should block the account. Not sure if that is the right move, but it is an option.
He will just open another one
He will just open another one and then block Dad from seeing it.

From what I see, 13 is the minimum age to have a social media account at least per Facebook. Now, I know a lot of kids have them younger.. and many of those younger kids get the accounts because their parents basically open them up for them.. and with proper monitoring, it can be a learning lesson for them.. learn about social media safety and appropriate behavior..with parental close oversight.
It actually can also be a way that he can connect with his dad (as he apparently is already doing). I don't think it's likely that the kid will not find a way around the rules if he truly is set on being on social media. I think that his dad should insist that he have login information so that he can better monitor and set expectations for behavior and postings etc... that fake accts found will result in losing privledge etc...
If dad has any kind of civil relationship with the boy's mother.. he should ensure that SHE knows about the account as well.
