War Update

IH and I had a calm discussion about the credit cards last night. His statements show he made almost $8,000 in payments towards his debt. He declined reoccurring charges on his card, including his gym membership and some subscriptions... Unfortunately it included the automatic fuel delivery. He said he has no knowledge of how spawn got a car. He agrees fuel should come from the house account. 

I let him know that I am taking over control of all bill payments. I will not take a cold shower ever again. We did a revised budget, a set amount of IH's income will go to savings. Enough to reduce our 5 yr plan to a 2 yr plan. 

He still has about $3,000 in credit card debt. It WILL be paid off by 10/18, that is our agreement. 

I froze the credit cards in quart containers of water. He replaced the oil money into my account.

We WILL live beneath our means. Mark my words. This will not happen again. Debit will be paid off, bills will be paid, not one cent will go to spawn or biowhore. E-V-E-R.

Yay!  I'm glad this went well and you were able to talk to him calmly and make a new plan!  Thanks for the update!

Very glad to read both how you handled this (like a PRO!) and that your IH hadn't betrayed you with that $4k. Your plan sounds excellent & resolve solid. 

IH is a lucky man.

I'm glad it worked out and it was a good reminder about not jumping to conclusions and attacking over an assumption.  You didn't do that and found out that there was a good explanation. In fact one that was in line with your goals of not increasing debt by declining recurring charges.  It was good because since you approached it maturely, you didn't have to apologize for a negative assumption and lower your power rating in the relationship.

This is why he is IH... He can put 2/3 to household account and not have any clue where the rest of his money goes. Before he and I lived together he spent almost $30 per day on breakfast and lunch. Its why I make his breakfast and pack him a lunch. Spawn asked and IH responded with $$. 

I told him, chef per week: $1,057.69... Maid: $461.54... Nanny: $788.46. Weekly total: $2,307.69. Your move IH.

I am frugal like no other. Yet we own a beautiful home. Before me IH had a basement apartment. I rented a small house on the ocean. The ocean was my front yard. 

He is going to learn the art of the dollar, even if I have to take every penny he makes and budget it, damnit. In 5 years I brought us to homeownership... I love the guy but he is so an idiot.
