Well, this will be my first blog entry....I'm sure this will not be my last. I have a feeling I may have found just the place I can use as an outlet! Anyone have advice on how to get the most out of this group?

Understand that as with all groups: not everyone agrees. If your really thin skinned keep that in mind. We have a few people here that are a little harsh with their wording (mean well, but online posting is missing voice inflection, facial expressions and tone), a few people who I swear live to stir the pot.. and a few (random) wackos who think all step moms are Disney Villans who are brewing poisoned apples for the precious little skids to eat (please... I'd dunk those suckers in caramel AND candy and eat them myself!)

Getting advice online means that 100+ people are reading your story. Everyone has their own opinion of your story... and as my daddy always said "Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one and they all stink"... don't let a strangers opinion/advice/criticism etc ruin your day, cause you angst, hurt your feelings etc. Take all advice into consideration... take what you can use, discard what you can't and ignore those out to stir shyte.

^^^ this!!! I absolutely agree with JHW, I think this is the best emotional/ how to protect your heart type advice that you could receive about this site! 

But on a more "how to use the site" type level, it helps if you put the age of your stepkid/a like for example SD8 (stepdaughter, 8yrs old) or whatever age your step child is, as otherwise people constantly ask how old they are! 

..and, something I was glad to find out before I posted anything too personal in the forums, you can't delete posts on forums, but you *can* manage and delete your own blogs. 

I've personally found that with my paranoia of being "found out" that I'm on STalk by BM, it's just better to be aware of that!! (I've deleted most of my blogs once I've received advice and help from the amazing step parents on here! .like I said, I'm paranoid lol!) obviously if you're ok with leaving stuff up online then that's all good, just thought I'd let you know 

oh also ..I have found STalk is a little quiet at the weekends, so if you post a blog asking for advice during the week you're more likely to get more responses 

..and, welcome! I hope you get whatever it is you need from the site! (in my case, the most spectacular advice.. that without a doubt saved my relationship with DH, before I found STalk we were heading for the rocks) xxx

Welcome! This is a great outlet for information and to vent. It's also overwhelming at times because you will get varied opinions on things and may not always be what you want to hear. Just roll with it and you'll be fine!
