O/T: Breech baby help!!

mamamomo's picture

SO I am 34wks along in my pregnancy and the baby is breech. The dr. wants to give her 2 more weeks to turn and if she doesn't he will schedule a c-section. I really don't want one!! Does anyone have any tips, ideas, or old wives tales to get her to turn? Any advice would be helpful. I am willing to try anything as long as it wont hurt the baby, even if it doesn't work I would have something to do to keep my mind off stressing over getting cut open! Thanks guys!

You still have a month and a half. Try not to worry. There's lots of time for things to change. Congrats!

She will be baby #3 for me and I delivered both my older daughters Vag. and they were pretty easy I got my epidural and slept until the Dr came in said said it's time get ready to push 20 minutes later I was a mamma Smile I guess I'm scared because it's different and I haven't been through it before and I am a huge wuss when it comes to pain. If I have her Vag. then I can get up and move around pretty much right after I have her and take care of myself but if I have a c-section I know it's a lot more painful and the healing time is longer.

Is this your first child? My baby was breech at 31 weeks, but being that this is my second child, the dr said he might turn as late as a couple of hours before birth. Mine did turn the very next week, but I was worried too at first, and decided that if he stays breech, it will just have to be a c-section. I don't want them trying any interventions.

You do still have time, and can't do anything about it, so try not to worry. My niece was breech and they tried to turn her, but my SIL had low fluid and they were unable to. My SIL said that in hindsight, she wished they hadn't bothered trying to turn the baby.

A friend of mine had a breech at 36 weeks and doc told her the best thing to do was to try to stay active- walk and then take a nice relaxing bath (or shower)- listen to music- and put headphones on your belly- anything to get the baby active too and then relaxed- promotes them to move around- and 2 days after walking for 30 mins she turned around and had a normal delivery. Best of luck to you and the more you stress, the more stress you are putting on your baby as well. Stay calm mama!

The Dr. will only give her 2 weeks and then if she hasn't turned he will go ahead and do the c-section he said we don't want to wait and risk me going into labor on my own with her breech we've already been having issues with my blood pressure so we don't want to give her the possibility of being in any distress and it would be better for me too. She's getting really big we can actualy see a bulge where her head is right under my ribs and it's getting uncomfortable for me so I imagine it has to be uncomfortable for her too.

Tell your doctor to kiss your ass, this is ridiculous, a baby can turn until the last moment. Drs have BUTCHERED chidl birth, the intervention, c-section rates, are HORRIBLE. You would never have a dr recommend to be CUT OPEN 4 weeks before due date due to breeh in ANY Other country in the world.

DO your homework, it's NOT necessary-unless till the VERY last minute-and even then many babies have been delivered vaginally breech- but alas malpractice rates and drs worried about their own pockets and risk, could really care less about your health, your babies, or your recovery and birth experience. STAND your ground, do NOT be bullied-this is your body, your child, your birth!!

I found exercises online, but I don't think they really help. DS was breech until 3 days before I delivered. Anything can happen. Try the exercises, but don't stress too much yet.

Lot's of chiropractors can flip them easily. I had a scheduled c-section due to back problems and it was the best thing ever. My whole pregnancy I was overseen by my neurosurgeon in order to keep my spine in tact. He also had me see a chiropractor when the pain got to bad. Talk to your OB about this as an option... Some OB's agree and others don't but mine was all for it to keep me from having to have a spinal fusion during pregnancy. MY son will be 2 this month and still no fusion.

Good luck and don't stress about a c-section. The only glitches I had with mine was my amnio they did 2 days before the scheduled section he was so big that it took 10 minutes to get fluid and he was not a happy camper. Had to so the amnio because I was not allowed to go into labor or have contractions so he was born at 38 weeks to make sure his lungs were developed. The other one was because of all of the scar tissue on my spine it took 5 or 10 extra minutes to get the epidural in but that could have happened if I was delievering naturally too.
