So I have been with my SO for going on 6 years. Before my SO, I was living with my ex, who I was in a relationship with for 3 years starting in college. He’s been in a relationship for quite some time now. I met the girl when I finally got around to getting my stuff, she’s really sweet and I hope like hell he treats her better than he treated me. 

Im still friends with his mom on FB. Today is his birthday. His current GF posted wishing him a happy birthday with a bunch of photos and his mom tagged so I saw it. 

Here is where it gets weird-in the post she talks about how loves his obsession with bow ties, his record collection and posted a bottle of high end scotch-among other things. 

Im sitting here, cringing HARD. His “obsession” with bow ties came after our senior formal in college when we went to see a Tailor to fit him for a tux, I told him I wanted him to wear a bow tie, he refused. Then it turned out the color swatch that matched my dress, the tailor only had in bow ties. So that was an ongoing joke the two of us had. Naturally everyone complemented his bow tie and he’s worn them ever since because well...I was right duh. 

I also bought him his first record player and showed him how to use it. One of the pics she included, which looks very recent, is at my go-to record store which is a 3 1/2 hour drive from where they live. There are also pictures of them at the ski resort right near my house-right in front of the sign it’s like a 20 minute drive from me, about 5 hours for them. There are plenty of places to ski here, that aren’t there, the runs there aren’t even that great esp when you could go another 1/2 hour west and be on KILLER trails. And scotch on the rocks  is my poison of choice. I’m the only reason he knows anything about good scotch. 

This was just completely out of the blue, and my initial thought was “oh you mean you love ME?” But really, I hope these are just things he liked and has integrated into his life with no real strings attached but it’s just an wee bit weird. 

I don’t want to talk to my friends about it. They all think it’s weird that she and I look a lot alike-I don’t see it, I don’t really care to talk about it but homie has a type *shrugs*. 

I just don’t know what to think about that. I don’t really think it’s anything I should concern myself with but it’s just strange. Part of me is like, don’t take parts of me and pretend they’re parts of you. That’s like my fav stuff. Anyway that’s all.
