Step Son is driving me crazy!
Our 'child free' weekend can not get her soon enough!
We took a family trip for Spring Break and all SS15 (BiPolar, Depression, ADHD), did was complain the ENTIRE time. He took off by himself several times in the big city we were in causing his father to have to go searching for him too. I finally told him if he doesn't appreciate our efforts and the family trips, he can stay home next time. I didn't let it bring me down though, I still had a great time with the rest of the family. He was out of hand the week before we left, so I should have taken that as a sign.
Now we are home and the saga continues. He is constantly complaining about chores. He plays a video game and gets so frustrated and pissed off if he can't beat it that it results in him taking it out on everyone else. I told him if it's making him that angry, take a break. He said, "But that's quitting and giving up", I explained it's not, it's taking a break, refreshing yourself and trying again. I have some bottled water that I take to work with me because I have a bad cough so I'm constantly having to drink and am not able to leave my class room to fill my water bottle all the time. I told the kids not to take it and why. SS15 has helped himself to them. I told him again today not to take them and his response was, "What am I supposed to take for lunch?". Um, we never bought bottled water for them for lunch, they have water bottles they take, so why suddenly is this a problem? Today he lied to me about doing his chore. He was laying on the couch, watching tv when I got home, so I asked if he did his chore, he said yes, but when I checked, he hadn't done it. He said, "Oh the trash isn't full, it doesn't need to go out." WRONG! Two cans were overflowing! UGH! I noticed today that he has put holes in the walls in his room. I want to ask his father what he's going to do to get this kid some help, but it's a touchy subject. I can only do so much and talk to SS15 so much because I tend to be a trigger for him.
This weekend is the weekend my SKids go to their mom's and my kids go to their dad's. I welcome the break but dread when SS15 comes home because his mother is clueless about anything and everything with him and he often comes home off his meds. I guess I should just try to enjoy the weekend and not worry about the rest until the time comes. Now I know why some parents drink! LOL J/K
