Ugggggggggg. Major vent here. SD13 does not finish anything!!!!! I pour out open sodas, tumblers with soda and ice melted down. She opens a soda or pours a soda takes a drink and leaves it. Then she opens or pours another. SO says nothing. Well she has started drinking my sodas now. Every day this week I have to pour it out, today I come home and not one ,two but three full soda cans down the drain. WTF!!!! I lost it I said no more sodas until you finish the one you opened up to begin with. This is wasteful and wrong.

I guess I was way to mean to her and SO got mad at me. I raised my voice but I didn't yell and I was pissed. I felt I kept it under control if it was my bios I would have yelled lol. In fact I did yell at them for crap like this when they were growing up. Why is it so hard to not be wasteful???

I understand your frustation. SS was like this but not with cans. He use to take drink cups and by the end of one day there wss like 10 tumblers needing to be washed. Every time I told DH about this it wasn't until 1 weekend I left all the glasses for DH to clean up. then he saw how much Ss was using. The next weekend DH bought paper cups. that was a few years ago

today he always tells ss to reuse his glass he already has ( rinse and use again). maybe if you have SO toss all the soda he will see how much is being wasted

Here's how we solve this one... We only by 2 Liter sodas now, and for the kids, we buy generic. If they leave out a cup and it gets hot and yucky, we just sit the cup back in the fridge. Use a dry erase marker to write kids' name on cup...

They got embarassed by cheap soda when friends were over; we explained when they could realize how not to be wasteful, we would buy cans again= OR they could buy their own. If they want to waste their money, so be it.

The boys get a soda at school every day, and bring it home. If it sits on the counter, big deal. Not my money...

I hate to say it and correct me if Im wrong but you must have some spoiled ass Skids if they get embarrassed by drinking GENERIC pop in front of their friends. What the hell? I mean its pop. Who gives a crap if its generic or not.

Yep. Same here as OP. Skids: no more canned sodas. For the same reason. I'll let 2 of them split a can for supper...And generic sodas, too!

IronRose's picture

I just can't afford to be dumping cans of soda b/c 3 skids cannot remeber which is hers!

But I cannot complain about tumblers... SD15 uses the same tumbler over & over, until I feel sick looking at her drink from the sludgy thing.... *shudder*

At my house, you can have as may HALF glasses as you'd like. No skids pour full glasses anymore- they don't get drank. Sooo I said half-glasses only!

Hide your soda and don't buy any for SD. I put a stop to the soda consumption. If you drink too much of it it literally rots your teeth. I told DH we're not going to pay for braces if SS's teeth were just going to fall out later because of the ridiculous amount of soda he was consuming not to mention the weight gain.

SO made a big deal about me being stingy because I said "now she decides to drink my soda and waste it". It was bad enough that she did it with her soda and I would make comments to SO. He would say something to her in passing but that was it.

Now when I get home and want a soda but I have to go out to garage because all in the fridge are gone. But wait they are just sitting around the house waiting to be dumped down the drain. Sorry that was enough to push me over the edge and I said something to her. I just don't get why he is so freaking afraid to be a parent. Don't these guys see how much of wimp it makes them look like. This man runs a crew of 40 people and takes no shit from any of them. Yet a 13 yr old he cowers down to :?
