OT - Thirsty Thursday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Spring is just 'round the corner (Tuesday!). While SOME people still have plenty of snow days left, it's time to put the cocoa and marshmallows away. Warmer weather makes me THIRSTY. Spring brings new life: trees budding, grass greening, birds warbling their Spring mating calls... Planting season awaits!

I don't know about you, but I'm damn near a camel when I do yard work! I typically drink water, but there is nothing like finishing up for the day, wiping the sweat from my face (for the umpteenth time), and taking a long pull from a cold brew. Mmmmmmm....

In Spring I tend to prefer lighter drinks: a crisp Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio/Gris pairs so well with fresh, Spring food. Do you like sangria? Try a white sangria!

Spring Sangria

Make this in Spring (and Summer!) with all the fresh fruit available.

1 bottle of crisp white wine, carbonated preferably
1 lime and lemon sliced
1 cup of sliced or whole berries
1/2 cup triple sec
1 cup soda water IF the wine is not bubbly

1. Place fruit in the bottom of a glass pitcher.
2. Pour wine and triple sec over fruit. Let chill for an hour.
3. Add soda water, if necessary.
4. Enjoy!

My Great Uncle used to make what he called "fancy water"

Basically he'd put strawberries, lemons, limes, and cucumbers in a pitcher, throw in ice and then fill it up with water Smile May not be as fancy as yours... But it brings back fond memories! Smile

Oh, I luuuuuurrrvvv to crush up fresh fruit in water!!! Any kind of citrus or berries. Sometimes I'll make a spritzer with dry white wine, club soda, and crushed fruit. Drinks

Its yummy! I have to do it now!!! I need it warm up first though... 30 degree weather doesn't make me want to drink ice cold water. LMAO

Sounds delicious!!

I enjoy fresh Lemons and sometimes I will add freshly cut ginger.

For cocktails, I do enjoy sweet Riesling wine.  Chocolate Martini are our favorite during holidays.

What usually happens is the Irish in me takes over....  Nothing better than an ice cold beer.

Oooooo, I forgot about fresh ginger water - yum!!

Reisling is yummy, but I'm not into Chocolate Martinis. ESPRESSO Martinis, on the other hand...

Sometimes in a large punch bowl we add vodka and 7up to sangria with fruit. Only at parties because one glass does it, if you know what I mean.
