We are going on a trip the end of May. We will be gone three days/two nights.

We have three dogs and a cat.

I am contemplating leaving the 3yr old dog and cat home alone. We have a doggie dog and I can leave plenty of food and water down for them.

My other two dogs will need to be boarded because I just don't feel good about them being alone that long. They are very needy.

What is the longest you have left a pet while away?

The doggie door is used for the dogs to go inside and out. We have a fenced in yard. We work 10hrs a day and I felt bad for the dogs being outside in the heat for so long. This way they can come and go as they please all day.

I left my dog alone overnight one time with plenty of food and water. He was fine, as I knew he would be, He was about 13 at the time. People say that dogs have no concept of time, if that helps, but the guilt drove me insane.

I agree that pups would be most comfortable at home compared to a loud kennel with limited exercise. But I would suggest a pet sitter or neighborhood kid, family member to come spend time with them each day, to put down fresh water.

I have five dogs and a doggy door as well.
