I am new here but I've been reading for quite some time. I have to say I have it MUCH better than most of you. My SO and I have been together for 5 years and living together for three. My children are all adults but SO has a 16 yo son. There has never been a formal custody arrangement. As far as the school district is concerned the kid lives here - better schools than in BM's attendance zone. When we first started dating BM had the kid Tues, Wed and Thurs and SO had him Fri thru Monday. Once the kid got into high school, he is here during the week and with BM on weekends, unless he has plans with school friends, then he stays here.

It is summer now and he goes wherever he wants - well basically he goes wherever he wants all the time now. It drives me nuts never knowing when/if he is going to be here. Some things were said back in October that I just can't seem to let go of and I just don't want to go anywhere if it the three of us. I got trapped twice in the past few weeks and now I'm on my guard more.

He hasn't been here much the past few weeks - SO makes him go to bed at 11 pm and at BM's he can stay up all night an sleep all day. Oh and his headphones broke and SO won't buy him new ones because he is broke because he just spent a bunch of money taking him on vacation at the end of June. At mom's there are $300 wireless headphones. You've all heard it before.

The only blessing is that I have never been engaged with the kid and SO has never asked me to. I am enjoying the break from the kid. I guess he will be here Sunday for the soccer finals. I think I'll spend some time at the gym on Sunday.
