Job update..

Sending an update as so many were so helpful with your Zoom tips!

I did not get the position. Which was a real bummer as it would have been absoutely perfect. But I now have had an opportunity come up and as I am hesitant, this could prove to be a exceptional move for me financially. Its basically what I am doing now, but the potential for growth is huge and comes with a substantial pay increase with a sizeable yearly bonus.

It isn't remote, which was my goal..but it is 10 minutes from home. Its also in a completely different industry, so to learn something new is also appealing.

I had an extensive conversation with the owner of the company and will meet his team this week. I'm hopeful but guarded. It all sounds too good to be true, so that makes me wary.

I welcome the thought of something new but at the same time dread it. Turning 50 in a few weeks and the thought of a new field is not at the top of my list...but I'm looking forward to meeting everyone this week. And money defintely talks!!

I changed careers in my mid-early 40s.  Went from basically real estate/paralegal/clerk/secretarial to IT.

Back in the day, I was layed off from a so so job and was happily collecting unemoyment $.  Bad thing was, they kept sending me on job interviews.  I made sure I didn't qualify for any (tee hee) when they sent me on another one.  An industry I'd never had anything to do with.    As I heard about the pay and benefits, I started to perk up.  I thought, "I'll take it and just work til school is out this summer".  I retired from there 33 years later.  So, yes, sometimes life gives us a good surprise.

I've done two major job type changes in my life, one when I was 30 and one when I was 40.  I'm now in a job I love and at which I will hopefully retire.  Don't let fear hold you back. Interview for everything you can even if you are not sure because it's practice at the worst case and you never know....
