Here goes nothing...
Well, I've never written a blog before so please bear with me. I am a 34 year old man, married and my wife and I have a total of 7 kids, very blended. Now that that's out of the way where do I begin? Well, this step-father role is one hell of a challenge and some past mistakes have compounded an already difficult situation. I love all the kids very much it's just there is this constant defiance and disrespect from some of the kids that is really putting a strain on, well, EVERYTHING! I am not too proud to ask for help but when I convey any ideas or strategies I've learned to my wife she takes it as a personal assault on her ability to mother. Smh... Not sure what to do except take a one day at a time and try and be the change I wish to see.

Thank you for reading my blog
Thank you for reading my blog and taking the time to respond. I plan on being much more specific in my future blogs, trying to confront certain issues and/or emotions one at a time (well as much as possible). I hope you continue to check in on me from time to time.

First and foremost I thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my blog. That being said I am a little amazed that you were able to get a pretty accurate diagnosis of a major issue in our relationship. You'll be happy to know that I am totally on the same page and have actually put significant effort and made progress in changing the dynamic in our relationship. I realized that if she doesn't respect and value me then sooner or later she will be gone. I admit I'm a passive person but I realize that no one wants a doormat. Thank you for your input and I will be reading the article you sent me.

Welcome, osirusfirst. Glad to have you. Look forward to more of your story coming out over time.
My bit for now will be to recommend something my dh excels at: keep romancing each other. Soooo many challenges in stephell, it is super easy for the good feelings to get ground up into bitter dust. So make an effort every day to keep wooing each other, keep complimenting each other, keep pouring in the good feelings.
Thanks for reading! So I am
Thanks for reading! So I am actually a hopeless romantic in disguise but my significant other is not at all so that is something that we struggle with but I know that with certain things persistence is the only lasting solution and so I will be persistent and in general as aware as possible to her needs and desires as well as communicate my own to her. It is a journey but if it was easy it wouldn't be worth it. Hope you continue to follow my story.
