One Mississippi. . .
So this really isn't some amazing forum topic but I just found it funny. Last night the BM called my house phone. My DH had to go run an errand so the kids and I stayed behind while I fixed dinner. The phone rang and I recognized the number and thought "hmmmm...this woman never calls my house." So I answer and there is silence on the other end. I begin a mental countdown in my head. . . One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi, four Mississippi. I get the five Mississippi and she finally speaks. She asks, "Is dh there?" I reply in my best sugar and cream cheese coated voice, "No, I'm sorry. He had to run out to get something for SS for a school project." She then asks if ss is there. I say yes, "Would you like to speak to him?" She replies yeah. They talk and then my ss hands me the phone. I ask him sweetly "Are you done?" He shakes his head and I ask into the phone, "Are you there?" She agains says, "Yeah, I'm done." And hangs up. No goodbye. LOL!
What cracks me up was the awkward five second pause when she called! Seriously, count that off in your head. It's a big pause. I guess she was scrambling for composure or possibly thinking of hanging up on me. She called dh's cell first and he didn't answer which is why she reverted to house phone. I just thought it was hysterical. Had to share.

I rarely answer the phone
I rarely answer the phone when SD21 calls but when I do, I get the same thing. She has to think for a minute, as if maybe she dialed the wrong number!
I know right!! Hello! We
I know right!! Hello! We have caller ID and I can hear you breathing on the other end!! LOL!
And I do live here and can
And I do live here and can answer the phone if I so choose.
Before I blocked BMs number
Before I blocked BMs number from calling our house, she calls one day. I answer. Same as OP. Silence for a few seconds and then she says "Who's this?" I reply "I'm sorry, you called MY house so who is THIS?" (I knew it was her)
Silence again.
Her: "Put DH on the phone."
Me: "He's not here." and I hung up.
I immediately blocked her and she has never been able to call our house again. If she had any common sense a simple "Hello, can I please speak to so & so" would suffice, but she is such an uneducated animal.
Thats funny!! BM used to call
Thats funny!! BM used to call DH 10 times a day every day. I got so sick of it that I answered his cell phone one day and silence. After what seems like forever she asks for DH and I'm like nope hes not around and she blurts some crazy thing out that she was gonna ask if she could see SD that day. Yeah sure, she never wanted to see SD!! She didn't call his cell phone again for at least 2 weeks and she never picked up SD that day!!
