The battle of the parenting styles....*help*, I have remained calm and attempted the conversations with Hubs, but SS14 has zero responsibility, accountability or idea about how to take care of anything. I want to help, especially when Hubs is upset and complaining about those exact things, but if I dare say anything its a fight. So unhappy with my choices right now....*sorry2*

Teens suck in general but they are more tolerable when they are your own. Step teens suck even more due to the permissive, guilty parenting and a lot of times the inconsistency and upheaval of going between 2 homes means they don't learn to do chores and have structure in either home.
My suggestion is to hold your breath for the next 4 or 5 years. Not your circus, not your monkeys, you didn't make the problem and you can't fix it.

Yes, if you point out ANYTHING negative about skid, you are "picking on them", or "you just dont like them". SO, you do not ever complain or vent or say anything about akdi, unless its HERE on steptalk. When you feel like your frustration is boilling over, breathe and then log in here.

Its the only way. Parents are the only ones who can say anything negative. And when they do you just nod your head and go "hmmmmm, what do you want for dinner?" or "ooohhhhh hmmmmok. So whats on tv tonight?"

My life every single day I say anything by about the skids. God forbid we talk about all the garbage they put me through. They can do no wrong. I'm sorry you have to deal with this too. It sucks.

You are in good company.

I have the same problems with my SD11. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. It's very disheartening to feel like you can't speak your own mind in your own home. Literally just had an argument tonight with fiancé because I was trying to reinforce accountability when it comes to structure and entitlement.

Working through these same feelings with you. I think my next step is to step back and disengage a bit. I'll see how that goes.

I hope it gets better for you!
