How Do I Respond to This? It Hasn't Happened Before.

TheOtherMom's picture

A few days ago SS11 said that even though he calls me by my first name he wanted me to know he tells his friends I am his Mom. This conversation arose because his friend asked him if he would be more upset if I died or BM. She is 9 and has been asking about the step parent thing since her parents are newly divorced.

SS13 heard this conversation and really chewed out SS11 like he was a piece of poop.

I split them up because it got really ugly.

When I said good night that night, SS13 was cold and distant with me.

SS11 was really clingy.

The next day they acted like nothing had happened.

Is there something I am supposed to do in this situation?

From reading your blog, I can only assume that SS11 said you and SS13 got pissed about it?

It seems like the boys have worked it out, since the next day, it was like nothing happened...I'd let it go.

Saying that however, I understand that SS13 may be his BM's hero/protector (in his own mind) when it comes to SS11 but SS13 cannot put SS11 down for having his own feelings on the matter.

Each of your SS's must be allowed (by the other) to voice their own feelings/concerns about whatever the topic is without the other going balistic on the other.

What does your DH say?
