Sleeping Arrangements

Before we got custody of the girls DH and I rented a nice 3 bedroom house. We only had them EOWe and so sharing a room wasn't an issue. Then I got pregnant with baby boy and so we made the third bedroom into a nursery for baby. I put all my effort into this nursery. I sewed the curtains, painted the room, made a mobile, put up intricate wall decals etc. The baby is only 3 months so he is currently sleeping in his bassinet since the nursery is on a different floor.

In June all 3 girls came to live with us full time (ages 5, 10 and 12). We tried looking for a new house and came close to buying. Right before our 10-day option period was up we were informed it was a good possibility DH would be transferred to a different city in the next year within his firm. Now it is too late to find something bigger before school starts.

I asked DH what we are going to do about bedrooms. Obviously 3 girls in one room is too many. The logical answer is to move SD5 into the nursery with baby, right? Except I don't want to. In the past month she has locked to dog in a closet bc she wouldn't play with her and hit the baby on the head. I told DH she needs to talk to someone and I'm not comfortable with them sharing and maybe we should make her a space in the game room instead. He got defensive saying I just don't like her and none of those incidents have happened in a while. As if on cue last night DH was getting after SD12 for something or other and SD5 grabs a knife from our knife block and yells "Cut her daddy!" and giggles. He scolded her but this is exactly why I'm not comfortable. He basically told me my options were that they share or that baby sleeps in our room until we move, but by then baby will be close to a year old which is too old to be in our room still. Plus I went through all that effort in putting the nursery together for baby, not SD5, so I don't want her in it instead of the baby.
I know it sounds like that's the most logical plan but I'm tired of paying for BSC's screw ups (not the kids, her actual screw ups like not being able to keep her shit together).

A lot of babies don't sleep through the night until they are past 1 year old ( at least mine didn't). Plus BD4 is extremely hard to put to sleep. If a baby woke her up crying, you'd have to have someone come in and comfort her too.

I just think that's a really terrible idea. IMHO babies shouldn't sleep with anyone until they can consistently sleep through the nite.

Sounds like your DH is being an asshole and trying to make things right for his kids without worrying about the repercussion.

These other SMs are right on. Babies wake up and putting a young child in with them is a BAD idea. Either the young child will be waking baby up or vise versa. Baby needs a nursery. My SO tried to pull the same crap, but my DD is in the nursery I put together for her and his 3 all stay in the same room. Sorry girls, looks like you need to suck it up and deal with it for now. I had to share with 2 of my siblings growing up. Thats just how it goes sometimes. Stick up for yourself and your baby!
