SD18 graduating is iffy
SO and I went to her school last week and spoke to the guidance counselor. As it turns out, there were parent-teacher conferences that night so we went back to speak to every teacher. Her attendance is horrid and she's failing almost every class. Monday started a new semester - if she goes to class everyday and does the work and makes up some past work, it is possible she can graduate. Almost every teacher says she's very bright and capable of doing the work. SO spoke to her and she said she would. The next day she sent a text to SO and to my daughter who is a teacher at the school to say she needs them to back off her cause she's feeling pressured, blah blah blah. I said BULL! She has her issues but seems to be doing better as far as the depression goes. Sometimes she says she stayed in bed all day cause she was depressed but lo and behold, she's at her boyfriends that night. She needs to be held accountable. He agrees with me. Really though, what can he do? BM's advice when she called him on Monday? BM said that she thinks SD needs to be put on more meds. That's her solution to everything - pills! So frustrated. SD is 18 so she goes to her doctor on her own - BM has no say in her treatment anymore so she wants SO to be on her side and talk to SD. He refuses cause he believes more pills is not the answer. If she doesn't graduate though - no parties (obviously), no money, no nothing.

Similar scenario with SD17,
Similar scenario with SD17, all of her teachers said she was bright, capable of the work...she just chose not to do it. SD is extremely lazy. But now since she's dropped out she really doomed. These kids really have no clue. High school is the easy stuff...
Seriously
She's one semester away from graduating high school but instead she says she'll just get her GED. Ugh - I'm so digusted about this because it is just sheer laziness. Seems like she'll follow in BM's footsteps - get her GED, get pregnant and live off of social services. I have no poker face - she will know how disgusted I feel about her if she goes that route.
One semester away??!! I would
One semester away??!! I would be livid!! Holy cow...yes my SD knows how disgusted I am with the situation she's created. I'm confident I'll be the LAST person she'll reach out to. My SD is also following in BM's footsteps. I've told DH for years that she probably would...DH always thought differently, until now. You could just see it in her.
For the last 3+ years, I've
For the last 3+ years, I've been saying that PigPen15 will want to drop out. DH never believed me. Until PigPen himself brought it up a couple of months ago. And it's not because PP is failing - he is NOT. The reason is because PP wants to get a job and move out of the 'Ho House. DH is trying to talk PP out of it.
Unfortunately, in OP's case, it doesn't sound like her SD will pass/graduate. Maybe a GED is her best option.
Same with All Three Skids Here
Nothing wrong with them--are not learning disabled (despite what the doctor-shopping Girhippo says) So pretty much they have skipped school with a breathtaking impertinance, not done any of the work and even with an IEP (i think that's what they call it) they were and are failing.
SD19 had someone take notes for her in class and read test questions aloud. Didn't help. Now SD is in remedial grade school community college and has frosted us out even though we qualify to know her attendance via FERPA. Every now and then she posts on social media how she is doing terribly in community college . .
