Feeling Down! but....

Making myself remember the little victories like Step Children wanting hugs and kisses at bedtime.
SD wanting to be with me as much as possible and asking if she can pretend i am her mummy.

Watching my partner kiss and hug my children goodnight and giving them special nicknames and them making up a special nickname for him.

remember those amazing times when we feel like a real family!

thats what gets me through the tough times.

Awesome advice Kevin.

I would love to always only see each situation as it is without seeing through glasses tainted with fears, past hurts and future desires.

my Step children are with us a minimum of 7 days out of 14 with the littlest daughter opting to be with us around 9 or 10 days out of 14. it is so hard for the little ones when they have to go back and forwards. very confusing and hard to adjust. initially my SChildren would take up to 2-3 days to resettle after coming home to us but now almost 2 years in they seem to be able to flow smoothly between homes with only minor issues every now and again.

Sometimes Step children miss cue step parents, they give signals that they are not wanting us but i have learnt with mine that if at those times i hug them or tell them that i can see they are sad or hurting or angry and i just stay with them through those feelings they usually melt and it helps to build the trust relationship to be stronger!

good luck! and remember they are hurt scared little survivores who need your gentle protection.
