Today will be another visit to the counseler for my wife and i. i keep hoping that today something will spark her to understand where I'm coming from. She is the first relationship I've had with someone who is not romantic, sentimental and non-communicative on issues that arise within the family or us! Wish us luck!

But, I must ask, was your wife this way while you were dating? If so, did you just hope she would change?

We had a somewhat long distance relationship and never spent time together like these to see the true personalities during conflict. We had a short engagement and then were married.

I'm a bit confused, tougher. Pardon me if this sounds insensitive, it was my understanding that your wife has basically checked out. Told you she didn't care if you left. What do you think counseling will do?

I ask because I'm concerned you are setting yourself up for disappointment and dragging out the inevitable.

I guess I want to beleive that our harsh words to each other especially that one from her were said out of anger and I'm hoping she didn't really mean it! Trying to hang on even if I shouldn't!
