Child support question

Hello,

Just wondering what you all think will happen in this situation. My 18 year old is a year behind in school- so he's a junior right now. He lives with his dad out of state.

Kid (adult)asked me if he could come live with me again, and I told him yes. We were going to wait until summer and he would finish out the senior year with me. However, his dad wants to send him to me Feb. 3.

I have been paying cs to this man for 3.5 years, never missed a payment. Well, he is insisting that I pay this last cs payment. I planned on it- because I'm court ordered to pay, and we did opt out of FOC services, so it's not enforceable by them, but I have kept every receipt just in case he ever claims I owe him.

He also insists that I pay for the train ticket. And I think after that, he expects to pay no support. I am immediately going to file when the kid gets here. Not because I want money- because he will be arriving with nothing but a suitcase of clothes and will need a lot.

I don't think it will be a problem getting cs when the kid is in high school, though he's 18- especially when I was ordered to pay until high school ends. Does anyone think this will be an issue?

If your state CS law says it's until high school graduation, and he's in high school, then there shouldn't be a problem.

My SD was TWO years behind so we would have been paying until she was 20 (but she got married AND dropped out of school at 18).

You do know that you can opt back in to FOC services, and I would highly recommend that you do this ASAP!

If you are in Michigan, payment is due on the first of the month for the current month. There is no accomodation made for a partial month.

If you are in Michigan, file a motion to change the physical custody IMMEDIATELY. Ask for a FOC recommendation on CS, submit the income and overnight information and be done with it.
